MORECAMBE FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Mick Horton to its Board of Directors.

Mick, who is the club’s Football Secretary, will bring his extensive Football League experience to the Board and provide advice and support as the club builds for the future.

Director, Rod Taylor, said: “Mick’s experience of the game is second to none and he is the perfect man to advise the board on how it can take the next steps forward.

“He is highly respected by everyone in the game and we know he will be a valuable addition to the Board.’’

Mick said; “I am delighted to be joining the Board of Directors and hope my experience benefits the club going forward.’’

Mick will take his place on the Board once the appointment has been sanctioned by the Football League.

After the news of Brockbank and Hinchcliffe leaving at the beginning of the month it's not too surprising to see someone new come in. Does anyone know anything about him?

It was confirmed in the programme in 'Boardroom View' by the new owners, a few other snippets from them too, sounds like a case of watch this space

Aye, saw a screenshot of the programme article on Twitter.

Why would purchasing that Rugby Club "benefit Morecambe FC" out of interest I wonder ?

Some of our players are quite good at getting the ball between the posts and over the bar, perhaps player swap deals are on the cards :D

The Chamber event proved that there has been some positive change. Good to see Rod back and upbeat, Stephen Wright up on the stage selling the Shrimps and mentions of more commercial income to come.

I remain sceptical of the new owners long-term intentions and also their decision-making. However, it is evident that they’re not here to run the club down and are making short-term positive steps that recognise how poor the club has been run from the top for the past few seasons. I think they’ve realised where that failure lies and are acting on it. It’ll be interesting to see whether it gets carried through to its logical conclusion.

Agreed, I was at the Globe yesterday doing some work and there seems to be a positive air among the staff that I came across, obviously communication with fans could be better, but fingers crossed eh?
