RIP Stuart Connerton

Just read on Facebook that our former player Stuart Connerton passed away over the weekend.

Very sad news.

Played for us in the 1989/90 season and was in the team which played in the Final of the Lancashire ATS Challenge Trophy v Colne Dynamoes at Ewood Park, Blackburn.

Stuart scored the only goal - an absolute screamer - in the Semi Final Replay v Chorley at Christie Park which took us to the Final.

Blimey, played against him many times when he was at Phoenix Celtic, one of the calmer ones in that side that could either football you to death or implode and fight each other, Boydy, Podder, Stuart Leeming, Ockers ( not that one) etc etc.

He also scored our goal in a 4-1 defeat against Colne Dynamoes when Joe Woj took Big Dave Lancaster et al with him to East Lancs.

He played for our Sunday League side "Crystal T's" for a season or 2 and was obviously a decent player.

I only saw him round Morecambe on his bike fairly recently.

I agree, i remember them lot, a few of that team have passed away now.

I know him more as the Window Cleaner and popular Lad around the west end.

Andy, I'm sorry to hear that about Deeber and co, but not surprised as there were quite a few who would have a fag at the final whistle as soon as it was blown!!
Banned it at half time apparently.
