Food bank/toy collection on Saturday at the Globe

Port Vale at home, bring an item of food, tins, dried packet foods, rice, pasta etc OR a toy, preferably new and unwrapped. Collections will be organised for the local food banks at the game, and the toys will be distributed to those families less fortunate at this time of year by MFC.
Both initiatives are targeted at those in need locally, so please support them by doing what you can, just a small item makes a big difference.
Thanks in advance.

Football put to one side. This is something I think we can all support as one. Hope it’s a major success.

Good idea although most supermarkets do this now, very popular most collection boxes are by the till or in the way out, they fill up in no time.

Agreed, though supermarkets, other than Tesco, all posting huge profits and then collecting for charity as you buy stuff from them that they make profit on is a little strange to me!! But all help is good help I know.
At least there is no hidden agenda with tomorrow's collection, well done to all.

Tesco on Heysham road i pop in quite often to and from my way to work.

Think part of the idea was to stop homeless people begging outside the entrance, people rather than give money(like some advise not to because it can go on alcohol, drug abuse etc) instead buy food for them and on their way out give them food in person, so Tesco have a box instead for people to donate so when homeless or people in need do turn up, i think them items get handed out to help them and also stop the begging.

Its been on the news that lot of the major supermarkets now with food going out of date do donate to local food banks and centers rather than binning it.

A sign of times unfortunately :(

I live just round the corner but rarely use Tesco, didn't know that, that's a really good scheme. I'll bob in have a look next time I'm short of T bags or whatever. Don't mind Tesco or Co-Op as it goes.

Have we told any national, or even regional, news broadcaster about this. What a way to raise our profile.

I think I heard Swidz announce at half time that the collection has resulted in over five hundred meals collected today. Well done everyone.
