2-0 up to draw 2-2 and miss a late penalty that could have won the game....
Tough fixtures ahead.

Just one of them we was unlucky, thought we played some good football.
Although i think we lost our concentration for their first goal thanks to substitute Garry Thompson when he stripped off with "Pink" boots on
Buy seriously id if took 2-2 before the game.

Not a lot of inquest. Port Vale aren't a bad side. We played superbly in the first half. Their keeper made two fantastic saves, so they were lucky to go in only 2-0 at half time. Second half, they were better and pushed us back but we still had a couple of good chances, with another excellent save by their keeper from Mandeville's long range shot.
They scored a first goal from an off-side position. Yet another crap decision that went against us. That break gave them a lift and we fell to a sucker-punch.
Inquest in to the penalty after yet another penalty missed.
Very disappointing to drop two points and yet another game where we played well but failed to win, but can't be too critical. I would like to see us attack more rather than try and contain a game. But in general, the officials gave them the break that they needed by getting a crucial decision wrong. If they'd disallowed that goal, I think we'd have carried on to win 2-0.

With a defeat against Lincoln away a guarantee, the Cambridge game at home is a must win. It must be borne in mind that the sides below have games in hand.
A poor set of results around xmas could put us in a similar situation to last year.

Started sitting far too deep after 60mins. Can we afford to use that tactic defending a free kick again? The linesman was bemused and we picked up 2 yellows for dissent. Chuffed for Oswell. Game management let us down.

Don't know what Jim said at half -time but he should keep quite in future, that was an horrendous display second half couldn't put 2 passes together, at halftime I predicted a draw cos we always defend to deep and invite them on

Cambridge and Crewe at home cannot be described as tough. Both winnable and we owe Crewe one

Superb first half, as all have said, and they offered very little real threat. Their main man Pope, was getting more and more pi$$ed off by the minute, which was a good thing for us. As expected they had to press hard after half time, and they did. The game was absolutely swung, by the obvious off side call, that was missed by the officials, resulting in their 1st goal. They, then got “ their tails up,” and could smell blood( bit dramatic eh!) Everybody could sense what was coming, and unfortunately, it did.
Get out of jail penalty........missed AGAIN. AJ is obviously not the man for the job(?)
Would have put my mortgage on a win, before that major, not in our favour moment. Another wrong decision has cost us dearly.

First half was the best football I had seen us play for a while, could have been more than 2-0 up at HT very easily.
second half was a total disappointment, we sat back for long periods at times and they then took control.
As for the penalty, a good chance to make amends for allowing port vale to come back to 2-2 and then they seem to be having a discussion on who's taking the pen, up steps AJ and took what was a shocking pen, again !!!!
dropping 2 point againts a higher placed team abeit not played well today is very poor.
you cant control the 1st half like we did and then take foot of the gas second half
dont want to be negative as like i say we were brilliant first half but he 2nd was shocking game management

Same old story poor game management. Great first half, showed a little at the start of the second then decided 2 nil is good enough. We go back deeper and deeper invite the opposition on and once they get a foothold everyone knows what comes next. No doubt the linesman will get the blame, or cranston going down just before we were going to bring our potent striker on. I'm sure JB will take a point though. Afterall they are in good form and have a big squad. It did look like we had been doing some set piece work in training this week though! Aj needs penalty practice this week

For those that think Jim gets a hard time, you have to feel for the Port Vale Manger. A 4-0 and a 3-0 in the previous two games and gets loudly booed off at half time. He makes a sub and is greeted by boo's and a chorus of "you don't know what you are doing!"

You cant wait to get on when we don't win Gareth waller,Get a life.Thought we played well today,Terrible decision cost us again, game management had nothing to do with it.I suppose it was Bentleys fault we missed the pen as well.

Was a Vale legend too back in his playing days.

Haha like an episode of Scooby do, the great unveiling. I have told plenty of people my name on here so not much of a secret. I didn't quite read your unedited post, thought it was a bit personal tbh. As for my illustrious playing days, my moaning made up for lack of ability. It's a shame this forum has turned in to what it has but like I have said, i pay my money and will have my opinions. Sorry they aren't the same as yours Mick but hey ho. Make no mistake though, i was as elated and as low as any Shrimp fan there yesterday. I was one of about 20 that paid to stand in the pissing down rain to watch the game.

after AJ's last failure from the spot, JB should have given the role to someone else, for me it would be Oates

its alright saying that in hindsight.
But i was actually confident with Smithy stepping up, saying to people around me, his confidence will be sky high after scoring.

I love AJ, but after one penalty miss the pressure is doubled, it's not like scoring in open play.
his body language and short run up said it all to me !

I've had a read of a Port Vale forum. Their fans who were at the game were 'surprised' by their first goal and one said, he'd need to see it again but it looked like their player was "five yards off side" and that on BBC Radio Stoke, their manager "sheepishly" admitted that they had been "given the benefit of the doubt".
But, more to the point, they were referring to the fact that their manager has £400,000 to spend in the transfer window. How would we like to have that kind of a budget? Level playing field?

We also could have had a bit of cash to spend in January if we had seen off an average national league side in the FA cup!

Port Vale get an easy 2500 more fans than we do, that's £50k+ more per home game just on ticket sales, an easy £1M a year, so no wonder they have money to spend

We are without question the poor relations of EFL2, due partly to our poor home gates as a result of a poor home record over the last few years but also that Morecambe is not a town where football followers are prepared to support the local team preferring to travel out of town to PNE,Blackburn, Burnley and further afield.
Maybe, in years to come if we can encourage the current youngsters who attend the local schools to become regulars then we may be able to compete financially with other clubs in our league.
However having money available doesn't bring success as a given right but it would be interesting to see how Jim and Co handled the extra pressure brought on them by having money to spend.
If, dread the thought, we ever got relegated to the National League, once the parachute payments have dried up we could be in dire trouble with a very likely prospect of being unable to compete even in that league, so retaining EFL status is paramount ( which I accept contradicts what I posted a year of so ago....
)

Your 1st post sums up the MFC situation to a T, in my opinion, and yes, it does take “strength of character,” to admit on an open forum, that you now feel you “got it wrong,” previously. It would be good if a few more Shrimps supporters, sat down, looked at the hard facts once again, and re-assess their view of things. They maybe won’t change it, which is fare enough, but some just might?
