As someone who is a big cycling fan (or should that be an observer  ) I have been a follower of Team Sky since inception some 9 years ago and following the recent news of Sky being taken over by another company, the news of Team Sky's demise at the end of the 2019 season hasn't come as a real surprise as the main man responsible for Sky's backing has also left the new company.

It remains to be seen what will happen to existing team and staff members at the end of next year, but it's doubtful that whoever takes over (assuming that a new sponsor is found) that the current budget for a season is rumoured to be in excess of £34 million which dwarfs the nearest competitive team by a long distance will be achieved.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see either a Chinese company or even a further Arab state get involved who will probably be more capable of providing the budget needed to support a 'new' team but not to the tune of £34 million.

We don't know the reasons behind the decision. Their success has brought very close scrutiny and the claims & attention may not be seen as good for the brand by the new owners. Or, it could simply be money. It'll be interesting to see if they are kept together as a team or find themselves new teams.

Can't understand why they don't have electric bikes then they'd be able to relax a bit during the race

Still peanuts compared to that of some Premier League clubs.

The second highest team is Russian Katusha who have fingers in many pies ie Travel, Sports clothing with a budget of circa £27million.

They could look to be sponsored by Ventolin? Seems to be plenty of pro cyclists with asthma.
