As someone who is a big cycling fan (or should that be an observer
) I have been a follower of Team Sky since inception some 9 years ago and following the recent news of Sky being taken over by another company, the news of Team Sky's demise at the end of the 2019 season hasn't come as a real surprise as the main man responsible for Sky's backing has also left the new company.
It remains to be seen what will happen to existing team and staff members at the end of next year, but it's doubtful that whoever takes over (assuming that a new sponsor is found) that the current budget for a season is rumoured to be in excess of £34 million which dwarfs the nearest competitive team by a long distance will be achieved.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see either a Chinese company or even a further Arab state get involved who will probably be more capable of providing the budget needed to support a 'new' team but not to the tune of £34 million.
