New Logo

New Logo

Postby jbc.shrimp » Tue Dec 18, 2018 1:48 pm

If this was brought up at the forum I don't remember. Is the club thinking of changing the logo as from next season ? Been into google images to discover a design for '19/20.......Just curious.

I preferred the old one that was the Morecambe Borough one with a fishing boat on.

Burnley and Northampton to name 2 clubs seem to use their town logo without any problems.

Where were you looking? I've just done a Google but couldn't see anything different.

I think I'm right in saying that the Council own the copyright to the Morecambe Town Crest and the club was going to have to start paying to use it. Something like that.

Don't think it was directly paying for it, more like when we were to become successful, be self sufficient in 3 years and get to L1 any 'royalties' or image rights would not belong to 'us'. Basically clean slate and remove anything Christie Park

I'm sure Morecambe Town Council wouldn't mind the club using the towns coat of arms.

I'd be happy to approach them on the clubs behalf :)

Just to clarify a couple of points. The old crest is the town of Morecambe crest and ‘belongs’ to the town not the club, hence the decision to develop our own. Secondly, we’ve not actually used it for long ourselves, only since the early 1990’s from memory. in fact, during the 1980’s we used a very similar shrimp.

Add 2001-2018 to it and have the next one tattooed. In 20 years time when someone asks about the logo's history, post a photo of your legs.

Keith, I went into Google images, second column, sixth image down shows the existing logo next to a round one, red background, black edging, single shrimp, with 19/20 on outside.

Google obviously returns different images for different people!

Can someone link directly to it please?

I'm confused now!!
How can a foreign website have an image of our "new emblem" before we know anything about it?
Presumably this will be our "centenary" emblem? - 1920 - 2020 and all that,
or is it some graphic designers idea of what we should be having?
Does everyone (apart from me!) know we are due a new emblem?
Sorry if that's the case, I'll just get me coat!

EWWWW!!!

Mind you, that Indian web site also has an interesting team photo too, so perhaps a huge pinch of salt required?

I think it's just a hopeful punt from a graphic designer or sports game developer. It's really poor and wouldn't reproduce well on shirts or merchandise. That shrimp looks malnourished compared to our current mighty specimen. Away with it!

Firstly, the Morecambe crest we used is owned by Lancaster City Council and they've allowed Morecambe Town Council to use it.

Secondly, Burnley town crest isn't the same as the club https://ngw.nl/heraldrywiki/index.php?title=Burnley. And the same with the Northampton Borough Council logo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_gov ... ampton.png. The NTFC logo has been changed multiple times https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northampt ... Club_crest.

The current crest (or 'comedy prawn' before someone says it) does work.

Someone I know from Lancaster was walking up Fifth Avenue in New York and he spotted a man in front of him with a drawstring bag on his back with the Morecambe FC logo on. He stopped him and asked him whether he was from Morecambe. He said no, that he was from Switzerland, loved the logo and so bought lots of goods on the MFC shop website.

He's not the only one who has been on FIFA or Championship Manager because they loved the logo and then bought into the club. When I was running the Twitter feed I was inundated with messages from Italians, Mexicans and others from around the world saying the same thing.

I still have a polo shirt with that logo...the shrimp is a little bulkier, longer antennae, more legs and
horizontal rather than at 30 degrees but to a man on a galloping horse (as me old dad used to say) it looks very similar.

Have a picture but can't upload !

I prefer the old Borough badge but if as suggested the new one is more commercial then that's fine.

I think the current badge is cleaner and more modern, so therefore potentially more of a commercial asset, but what do I know at my age! :o
