Bright start from us. Nice move down the left in the first couple of minutes. Kev crossed but Oliver couldn't do anything. Possibly cross not good enough. Cranston had a shot from distance but clipped the defender which took the sting out of it, and it fell nicely for the keeper. A third half chance (probably the best of the three) Oates nicked the ball over the defender, Oliver moved on to the ball but took a touch too many and the defender got in.

After about ten minutes, a soft free kick for Carlisle. Devitt took it from a dangerous place but hit the wall. That led to a period of pressure from Carlisle including some pinball in the area.

As I write, a superb goal from Devitt. Throw in to Devitt who volleyed in from 20 yards. 0-1.

Story of our season, we've had two or three half chances, yet to hit the target. They've one half chance and score.

Playing well generally.

Bit scrappy since Carlisle scored, with no real flow from either side. 35 minutes gone.

Perhaps a little harsh I think. He lost out on strength a couple of times, but he's made a few good runs and passes. A few times he wasn't on the same wavelength as team mates but that will come.

That said, if making a change, he's the one I'd take off. Bring Oswell on for Mendes-Gomes, let Oates drop back, Oswell up front.

Better second half, but again, no final ball of quality and apart from a couple of long shots by Mendes-Gomes that were reasonably easily saved, we've not created anything.

Carlisle then slowly come back in to it and score again with a superb strike from outside the area. Probably their only chance of the second half. Another great goal.

Say's it all, two shots on target, two goals.

Last home game, Oliver was MoTM playing alongside Oswell. Now Oswell can't get on the pitch and Oliver is anonymous again.

Four weak shots for us.
Two world beating shots for them.

Could say our defence has actually done a good job generally?
Or our front line lacks quality?

Cranston just had another long shot.
Mills MoTM. Got to agree.

We could have played until a week on Tuesday and still not scored. Not a huge amount of difference between us & Carlisle other than they've got the quality to score with fantastic strikes.

We desperately need someone who can score goals.

Disappointing result. We have some good players, but either through injuries or choice by Jim we can't seem to get consistent performances. Luckily today other results have helped us, but Yeovil have two games in hand. I still think even with his non-existent budget, Jim will keep us in league 2.

As we have had no consistent goalscorer so far surely Oswell has to start of a few weeks. I know that things are different from his non league days but the lad scored a lot of goals and knows how to get in the right positions. Come on Jim. I seem to remember that it took Lim a while to have confidence in Callum last season but once he got a few starts he started scoring goals.

I thought he was poor and was stunned when he didn’t get substituted at first. He gave the ball away several times and failed to track back.
Carlisle scores 2 wonder goals. Neither team played well.

Weird how people see games. Yes Mendes Gomes looks raw and naive but I thought he played very well, passed the ball neatly and tried things.

The problem was against two slow centre backs and a keeper who could barely hold the ball we insisted on lumping it up to Kev and Vadaine both who either failed to head it or, when they did, sent it nowhere. Both of them were pedestrian and did very little.

What we needed was tempo, pace and inventiveness, yet again though we relied on players who lack that and we just idle our way through the half. Oates should have played wide or deeper as he loves running with the ball yet he gets taken off and Kev, who was poor at Tranmere stays on.

The game cried out for playing on the deck and disappointed again at Jim’s team selection, which just delivered a fairly flat performance when we needed to give a big crowd a lift.

I agree, the size of the 2 centre backs and especially the size of Gerrard, we should have played the ball in behind them and for it to be run on to but instead we played to suit both of them by lumping it forward which they coped with easily.

Disappointing game as thought Carlisle weren't great and that 2 great goals was the difference between the sides.

shocking how little we created today though.

big crowd today which could have been encouraged back saturday with a good performance but wasnt to be
