I now live in Preston and there's a rumour here that we are signing Connor Simpson, the young striker, ex-Hartlepool, on loan.

Just been on Wiki. It say's his loan is until January. Can a player decide where he wants to go on loan, as much as he can decide IF he wants to go on loan ?

Just completed a loan spell at Hyde United.

It doesn't matter what striker we sign if the system that enables him to score is not there. Oswell was a hugely successful striker prior to joining us as the majority of his goals were scored with his head thanks to pin point crosses into the box from the wings. Something that our system does not supply. We are dreadful with crosses that fall either too short or too long. How many times have we witnessed corner kicks that have been far too long and ended up going out of play on the opposite side to that of the kick?

Surely our management team realised from their time spent watching Oswell (assuming that they did) that his goals came from crosses into the box? If so it begs the question as to why we appeared not to provide him with the ammunition to enable him to score on a regular basis. However to do so he needed game time something that he didn't get despite our manager suggesting that that was what he needed and hence a reason for his departure.

If as is suggested we are to bring in this lad from PNE I just hope that we allow him time to adjust to life in EFL2, something that we denied not only Oswell but also the lad we got on loan from Wigan who has now returned.

He's 18 years old and only played at a low level. IMHO wouldn't add any more to our squad than Pigott.

I think we need someone more experienced. I've seen Chris Dagnall and former Bradford striker Hanson mentioned on another forum as being possible signings and those are the type of players we need.

Hanson at 6.4ft is bigger than Oliver, would Hanson just not end up Isolated on his own upfront?

Prefer Dagnall, he's smaller 5.8ft and will need the ball played to his feet or down the channels to run on to, plus a Scoucer, so can travel up with the rest of them, should fit in no problem.

Dagnall or Hanson yes definitely. Experienced at the level and what we need for the upcoming scrap. Connor Simpson a definite no. A young lad with potential but nowhere near ready for the EFL. Hartlepool fans who have seen him play state he was not ready for the National league let alone the EFL. Apparently signed by Preston as a tall lad (6ft 5ins) and a long term project. I would suggest he needs to serve his apprenticeship and prove himself at places like Hyde or National League clubs before he gets a shot at the EFL. Does not look the right fit for us at this time!

Simpson just signed for Carlisle: https://www.carlisleunited.co.uk/news/2 ... loan-deal/

Can't say I'm that devastated we've missed not got him. His pedigree didn't look stunning and I'm not sure we want to to be taking such a risk at the moment.

Maybe they can't get Nadeson back. I wouldn't mind if we signed Nadeson on loan.
