Sounds like a good signing, Tranmere fans reckon he put's a good shift in and can score the odd goal.

Welcome Ritchie Sutton.
Another good signing ( reading veiws of Tranmere fans.) More strength at the back. If the opposition can’t score past us, they can’t beat us. Yes, I know, if we can’t score, we can’t win. Sure the right man is on the way. COYMS.

Roll on Sat, can’t wait.

Tranmere fans ain't happy about this deal One reckons that he's their best defender but hasn't been given enough game time this season.

Let's hope that we've got this one right and that he's the leader and organiser that we need at the back.

Does his signature mean a back line of 3....with 2 wing backs pushing forward more than of late.... :?: :?: :?:

Probably 3 as Jim says he can play right back, maybe 3+1

Let's hope it doesn't mean Preston or some other team have put a bid in for Sam.

As Keith says Sutton for Yarney....and this one is not a loan. Sounds a decent deal. Welcome Ritchie :D

9 league appearances, only played the full 90 4 times. Seems like he was injured for some of the season though?

He was under contract with them as well, safe to assume Tranmere let him go rather than us paying a fee for him?

He also seems to chip in with the odd goal, much needed

Yarney out, Sutton in.

2nd this!

Plus Sutty covers 2 positions.

Like to see Sutty at R/B and Mills like Cranston could be better suited in midfield.

Maybe we are going for a 9-1 formation with Oliver upfront

Hate to be pessimistic but I have a bad feeling about this transfer window that it is going to cost us hugely come the end of the season.

Based on what?

Defence should have been first on Bentley's radar. We have been strongly linked with a proven striker at this level (albeit without much game time this season).

We had to replace Yarney and seem to have done so with Sutton who should be hungry to prove a point (historically the players Jim makes successes out of - Barky, Miller, Devitt, Lavelle).

Easier said than done of course but going off his comments there should be more to come as well. Entitled to your opinion but pessimism for pessimism's sake. Only a week in to the window ;)

Reading the Tranmere forum there are many posts on Richie Sutton leaving and the vast majority are gutted to see him leave.I get good vibes about this signing, a good bit of business.

I'm not sure that it's pessimism for pessimism's sake. P/T Indie and WW have a point. We've let three forwards go (Oswell, Thommo & Piggott) and now we've had the unfortunate news that AJ is out for the rest of the season. We haven't replaced any of them as yet.

Facts are facts. Until we make any actual signings up front we're in a worse position than when the window opened.

I presume we'll be leaving for Exeter tomorrow. Unless anything happens today (and I really hope it does!) it looks like we will be taking 3 first-team forwards on that coach (Oliver, Oates & Ellison). That's worrying given our lack of goals recently and also that Oates and Ellison have been playing regularly as wingers, not forwards. Sorry if that's pessimism, I see it as realism.

I can see Jim on the phone all day today hoping that some manager somewhere is prepared to loan out a striker who is currently not featuring in their plans.

Don't forget we have Campbell who was our top scorer in pre season. Out of adversity etc...etc...etc.

Is Oliver fit? Wasn't he injured last week?

as one of those fans that was shocked to see Jason leave this transfer window and also felt he should have had more playing time, I really do hope that Jim manages to find a replacement/replacements and hopefully an experienced forward to get us some goals.

The News of AJ being injured and likely to miss the remainder of the season is really bad news but can't help but feel, we have had more than our fair share of bad luck this season and especially injury wise.

This could be a long 2nd half of the season and feel that although we can all have our say or have opinions on what happens or has happened, can't help but feel we all need to get together and step up and get behind our team, be the 12th man on match days and get our team through this 2nd part of the season and secure league football for another season.

I have to admit given the AJ news this morning I am now a lot more concerned.

Oswell and Piggott being let go suggests there are replacements in mind /intentions to reinvest the budget. As you say though we need to get them over the line.

We should have told Wrexham that Oswell wouldn't be transferred until a replacement was signed but its too late now.
