Is he any good ? The 6 fingered mob at Barra seemed to like him.

Welcome Richie Bennett.
Hope he slots in as readily, and as well, as Ritchie Sutton did last Sat. COYS.

Wish him all the best and surely must be better than a certain centre forward we've already got.... :?: :?: :?:

To be fair, the Carlisle faithful didn’t rate Shaun Miller or Cole Stockton, so let’s hope this guy is similar.

How many minutes on the pitch though? Vadaine somehow usually gets a full 90 minutes. My understanding is that Richie has only usually been on for part of most games. So his goals per minute stats may well be a lot better than big V.

I understand people's frustration with V but I do think his sheer work rate earns him a place in the starting lineup at least. Hopefully he and Richie will click and create a few more goals for us.

Couldn't resist ....
His 4 goals came in Aug/September, he played full 90 mins in first 5 games and scored twice, then scored the other when he was on for 90 minutes.
Inbetween he was subbed 4 times, playing 288 minutes.

Oct. he was out for 2 games, played 248 minutes in 3 games and subbed each time. He came on against Yeovil for last 18 minutes.

November he didnt figure much, playing around 20 minutes in 3 games and was an unused sub.

Dec. he only played for 28 minutes while Carlisle were scoring 15 goals in 4 games and was pretty much an unused sub.

Same in January, just 16 minutes on the pitch and was warming the bench against us.

These are League games and very clear that the 20+ games were rarely for 90 minutes after September

He started the season well, but you can see why they've let him go.

His match fitness will need some time no doubt

Richie Bennett: 4 goals and 3 assists in 26 games. 1 goal every 386 minutes, or every 299 minutes in the league.

Vadaine Oliver: 4 goals and 2 assists in 27 games. 1 goal every 471 minutes, or every 545 minutes in the league.

Bennett hasn't started a game in the past two months, and has only played a full 90 twice since October.

Wonder if he (like a lot of Carlisle players I believe) had a falling out do with past manager Sheridan ??

So with 1620 minutes left to play, if they are both on the pitch for 90 minutes, we can look forward to 8 goals between them

Don’t give a flying f, what he did at Carlisle. It’s what he does for Morecambe is what matters. Only time will tell.

Bennet was doing OK upfront in a 4-4-2 when Keith Curle was manager playing more direct and long balls upto Bennet to hold up.

Then Sheridan took over and was having none of it, then Bennet was mainly used coming off the Bench like teams have done with deploying Peter Crouch and his arial ability.

I have a good feeling, think he'll do alright.

If he does hold it up well, who is on the cards to run on to it and smash it in, just a thought

Vadaine Olivers best spell of form with York was when he was paired with Jon Parkin up front who did all the target man stuff leaving Oliver free to play off him.

This is footage of Richie Bennett, goals and assist's with Barrow 2016/17 season.

Not only can he head a ball, but he as a good left foot, also takes penalties, also on a couple of clips of him finishing, looks good.

Perhaps the magic that the management worked on Stockton, Mullin, Miller etc will give the lad confidence. Looks decent enough on that showreel, Conference is, as we know, not a massive drop in standard.

Don't want to come across all negative but I remember watching something similar for Oswell not so long ago and thinking we had a real gem. Didn't quite work out that way and it doesn't always work when you factor in the jump from non-league to EFL.Those montages can be deceptive! The Carlisle forum don't seem to think he quite adjusted to L2 and that's being kind. One things for certain the way it stands at the moment with strikers, as soon as he's match fit he should get a fair chance to prove himself! Anyway welcome Richie, good luck and hope it clicks for you with us!
