Possibly a blessing in disguise. Might get some of our walking wounded back in time for the re-arranged game.

Also give the newcomers an extra week to settle in with the rest of the squad

Not much damage from our immediate rivals today. Yeovil and Macc both lost and Notts could only draw which puts them a bit deeper into the mire. Close to needing 2 points per game now.

And making our last game of the season looking like a real crunching nail-biter
I think we could have benefited from being focused on gaining a win had the match gone ahead today, as well as having the couple of new players up front. Hope the team are as desperate for a win for the rearranged game.

We cant afford to gamble on the last game of the season again. We all know that we dont respond at home to important games so let's go for it now and remove the threat from our thinking.

From the Oldham forum:

"I have been on the pitch just after the postponement and apart from a couple of small hard patches which would have been sorted by K.O. time the pitch was fine.It was the referees decision only quoting Health & Safety, well I guess it was his own safety because apparently the players and management were happy to play it.Apparently the referee quoted he didn't want the Morecambe fans travelling?????????.Wildy wasn't happy-this would have been his last game in charge"

So many games get called of these days that shouldn't, im sure there's a lot of us that can remember games played in the 60s and 70s on rock hard pitches covered in snow with just the lines cleared and a orange ball used, terrace covered in snow fans chucking snowballs, heaven forbid, health and safety and a nanny state.

As someone with a health & safety qualification, I can say with some authority that very often (and they are the cases most likely to get thrown up in the press/media) health & safety is used as an excuse/catch-all for doing/not doing something when in fact the reasoning is something else entirely, but rather than be honest about the reasoning, H&S is used to justify it. Perhaps in this instance the ref had dodgy knees and didn't want to damage them on a hard surface - BTW, I'm not accusing him of that, just suggesting it as a possibility - or there may have been another, entirely reasonable justification, and it may have been that he was concerned for the safety (forget health, not relevant in this instance) of the players. Without a more detailed statement we'll never know, but do please be careful when accusing H&S and the state, because I can state with some confidence there is no H&S regulation that prevented the match taking place, only perhaps one individual's interpretation of guidance related thereto.
