Don't think Mark has done any wrong during his time in goals , if anything his distribution and kicking is possibly better than Barry's . Can't think I have heard a bad word about the lad and let's face it we need a replacement for Barry as he comes towards the end of his career

Totally agree. His distribution is excellent and is the ideal replacement for Baz as his injury may prove to be too much to recover from playing such an important part in his role in the team. I'd welcome Mark as our No1....

Absolutely agree with both of the above posts.
One thing that shouldn’t be forgotten though, and that is,that Mark is playing for a Morecambe side still in Lge2. The “Big Man,“ is the reason, that we are. If he is fully fit, then for me, still one of the finest Keepers in the league.

When fully fit Baz is number 1 IMHO.

Something very reassuring about seeing Big Baz in the goal.

My M.O.M today, the game could've been over before half-time thanks to some timely saves and interceptions.

I think Halstead has done really well since getting his opportunity. He frequently makes great saves, and usually has good distribution, but I do think he could be more vocal, ensuring defenders know they have time and space to control, or to clear, and help avoid defensive howlers like we saw today.

Blameless when Old decided to do the usual trick and pass back to the keeper! I think it comes automatically from the players if in doubt pass back, we do it so many times in games. I put it solely down to our tactical plays.

Mark has done ok, but we are lacking leaders and experience and Baz fills both slots with ease. Only my opinion though

Agreed. Mark has done ok although possibly he may think he should have done better with the 3rd goal yesterday.

Baz is much more vocal and organises the back 4. Yesterday the back 4 looked like Fred Karno's circus and has done so in a few games.

Where's the guarantee he'll play? After all, as has been said, Mark has done very little wrong, and in my opinion ought to feel somewhat affronted if he is dropped in favour of Baz just because he's fit again.

No guarantee but your best players are your best players.

A big boost to the team IMHO.

Totally respect your opinion (as I hope you do mine). We'll see what decision Jim makes. I'd also say that 'back to full training' doesn't necessarily mean match fit, although obviously for a keeper the fitness requirements are different than for an outfield player.

I wasn't suggesting he'd go straight back into the side at the cost of his stand in but what a nice problem for the manager to have in being able to make that call, just hope he has more crocks back in time for the run in to see the club safe.

Mark and Barry are at a similar level for me. Both capable goalies who do a good job. I don't think swapping one for the other would change our fortunes massively.

I also think it may also be down to things that we will not know, such as whether Baz feels he'll be playing full time, as first choice, next season or whether after a couple of big injuries this season, his body is telling him the time is up for a full time career? If he's going to be first choice next season, then bring him back ASAP but if not, then I'd be inclined to leave Mark with the keepers position.

Mark Halstead has kept goal very well , the best deputy keeper we have had in the League.

I just think Baz organises the back line and is very vocal.

Nice problem for Jim to have though.

For me it's such a vital position that any question about fitness following his injury should leave things as they are for now.

Any further injury could lead to long lasting problems. I'd rather Baz made a decision at the end of this season and let Mrk continue 'cause for me Mark's distribution is a lot better and for Baz to return after such a serious injury too early could be career changing.

Mark is a more than able to replace Baz long term.

Burnley couldn’t win a game with Hart in goal (who is a good keeper). Sean Dyche brought back fans favourite and legend Heaton in goal and they suddenly couldn’t lose.

        Baz all the way.

Competition proving to be healthy, Halstead producing 4 of the best saves I've seen. Ends the debate in my eyes, you can't drop someone in this form.
