Kevin Ellison Becoming 40

Kevin was Jim Bentley’s first signing for Morecambe FC and is still the club’s joint top scorer this season. His 23-year career includes 700+ club appearances and 150+ goals.

To mark his 40th birthday, not only are we hoping he’s going to play and score against Lincoln City (one of his former clubs and currently the top club in League Two), but we’ve also planned a few surprises including a big 40th birthday card which we’re hoping all Shrimps fans will sign in JB’s Bar before the game.

Around the ground on Saturday volunteers from Lancashire Mind, who deliver valuable mental health and wellbeing projects to young people within our local community, will hold a bucket collection – something Kevin (who has been raising awareness of his own personal battles with depression) fully supports and was keen to get involved with as part of his special day.

Check out a superbly honest and moving interview with Kev below to hear from the man himself about his upcoming birthday and how things have changed for him recently.

Kevin has also donated a signed 2018-19 Morecambe FC shirt which will be auctioned by Shrimps Trust after the game in the Local Choice Suite.

So please give generously to the bucket collection on Saturday.

Imps fan in peace.. loved KE when he was an Imp. Only wish we could’ve afforded to buy him then.
Players like him deserve some sort of award but they never seem to donthey?
Looking forward to Saturday, great day out !
Hope you guys stay up, JB is doing a fab job imo...

Excellent & honest interview. Just one thing to clarify, in the video Kev said the shirt is being "raffled off", on here is says "auctioned"? Is it raffle or auction? If it's an auction, I'll happily start it at £55.

The road opposite the ground entrance is ok for parking if you get there early enough . Westgate primary school a short walk from the ground opens up for parking ,£4 which goes to the school . Other than that street parking . Enjoy your day with us ..... But not too much ;)

Yes it is an auction and not to be confused with our raffle which is running at the same time ahead of our sponsored game on Easter Monday.

So thank you Keith for your opening bid of £55 :)

It’s another wasted opportunity by the club to get a good news story onto the local news channels , as they are quick enough to broadcast anything negative . It’s a massive milestone for a league player in this day and age to still be playing at 40 when players are retiring in their early thirties if not sooner !

Guard of honour by the teams might be a nice touch

The count is in.... thank you to all Morecambe FC and Lincoln City Football Club supporters who contributed towards yesterday’s bucket collection by Shine for Sian in aid of Lancashire Mind as part of Kevin Ellison 40th birthday celebrations.

Including the auction, £1,361.81 was raised for the charity. Top effort.
