I thought I would start a thread for people to post their favourite memories of Morecambe FC, whether they be good times, bad times, funny moments, Christie Park, away games or anything.

I will get the ball rolling:

My first game around 1997/1998 Vs Kettering at home, sat in the main stand Vs Kettering Town - 2 goals by Justin Jackson. The covered away terrace had recently opened and the home terrace opposite was uncovered.

Late 90's/early 00's and a home defeat in the Lancs trophy against Southport - about 600 on and Kenny Tokano fluffed a cross in the last minute to the dismay of the home support.

Christie Park in general, the atmosphere and especially the bar under the main stand was excellent. The car wash terrace was brilliant also.

Was that the game Jacko scored from about 45 yards out? He was on fire that game and I think we scored five. Got poached from us shortly after.

Their keeper also got knocked out that day and had to get rushed to hospital. Remember as a kid being quite shocked by it (was a few metres away right behind the goal) and wrote a letter to Kettering to see if he was OK. Never got a response... Kevin Shoemake I think he as called?

I don't remember a goal from 45 yards, but def scored a brace - he was the reason why we watched Morecambe FC as he is related to me. The great memories I have watching them in the past and the fact they are geographically my nearest club is the reason why I support them today.

Have you got an Isle of Man connection? I remember his dad, Terry, had the old cafe at The Sound. We used to go down there to walk the dog, then have a chat about Morecambe FC with Terry. Great little cafe! It was over a hundred years old and many people wanted it to be kept but there were Iron Age (I think) ramparts underneath that they wanted to excavate, so the cafe went.

I remember Jacko scoring with his head at Scarborough. Apparently, as he scored, John McGuinness had just won a race at Oliver's Mount. They heard 'Morecambe' chants coming up from Scarborough FC as the Morecambe Missile was on the podium.

My photo of the Christie Avenue end being demolished, who can remember the graffiti that was painted on that back wall and remained there for YEARS....???!!!!!!

It said, "COME ON YOU BARROW B@$T@RD$" !!!!!

No, the game you are thinking about was our inaugural Vauxhall Conference season, 1995/96.

We won 5-3 if I recall and a certain Carl Alford was in the Kettering team.

And yes, it was Kevin Shoemake. Dave Edge was instrumental in saving his life.

Kettering were 3-2 up at half time, Alford, who was ex Morecambe in our NPL days, had tore us apart. This was in the carefree Jim Harvey early days where if the opposition scored 3 we would try and score 4.

I remember we scored lots of goals against Altrincham at home that season too.

I think we beat them 6-4 at home in the League Cup (they were 1-0 up after just 10 seconds in the snow at Christie) and then we beat them 7-0 in the league with John Norman being absolutely outstanding.

That, after we lost 0-3 at their place early on in the season and we were utterly woeful.....

It didn't take long for a post like this to happen.

Christie Park was hands down my favourite non-league ground for various reasons, but mainly due to its character. It was always going to be difficult to replace, especially when moving to a new ground.

This applies to many clubs that move to new grounds. They haven't got the 'character'

Totally agree, although unlike others the club did try to replicate CP with the design of The Globe which was good to see.

Colchester, Chesterfield and Shrewsbury's ground are almost identical.

I think you are thinking of the match the previous season when we also scored five:

14.10.1995 Kettering Town home W5-3

I think we came from 2-3 goals down this match and Coley scored a hatrick?
