North West Tonight Revisited

I can’t find a direct link to the piece but BBC North West Tonight has just broadcast the tribute to Morecambe and Jim Bentley which Producer Howard Booth promised earlier this month on these pages in these terms:

“And rest assured, after yet another Jim Bentley miracle, we are planning a Shrimps feature very soon.”

Good for him for keeping his word.

Good for Jim for doing the same – yet again.

We’ve all heard of Vauxhall Motors and Blackburn Rovers but at Morecambe, we have something even more classy...

A real, solid gold Bentley...

That we were the last NW Football League club to be featured?

As in, we weren't 'special', in fact, the opposite, as we were last again.

Someone has to be last. At least we weren't ignored altogether. I personally appreciate the fact that Howard Booth - the Producer - promised this slot and came up with the goods. Well done that man...

Absolutely doc, and I am sure that most SVs would agree with that.

Being a cynic, I'm more inclined to think he promised something that he knew was already in the pipeline  And yes, *someone* always has to be last, but that *someone* is almost always us. The other day, they read out all North West results down to League One, then instead of giving League Two, said "for a full list of results, visit the web site http://www...". It would probably have been quicker to finish reading them out!

Regardless, it was a positive piece, so that's good.

We are always the last as we are the lowest ranked, with the smallest crowds.

As we are the region's smallest club, with probably the smallest viewing fan base. Is it any wonder we are always last? Or am I missing something ?
