Ibrahim Bakare signs pro deal

Postby RapidShrimp » Wed Jul 24, 2019 1:01 pm

Academy defender Ibrahim Bakare has signed his first pro contract with the club, he’s a 17 y/o defender (turned 17 in May according to the OWS)

He was involved with the first team squad against Bamber Bridge a couple of weeks ago

I guess that along with many others I have been keeping my eye on the OWS today hoping to read about the signing of a "known name", and initially I must admit to being rather disappointed when I read about Ibrahim signing. However, I then remembered a tweet that he posted when he got his opportunity for a start against Bamber Bridge - full of enthusiasm and a desire to have that opportunity. Similarly he has tweeted this afternoon after his signing about how great it is (thanking family and friends) and promising that "there is more to come".
Seems to me he has a great positive attitude and I truly wish him all the very best.

Welcome Ibrahim. Good to have you on board.

An interesting signing and no doubt one eye for the future be it as a Shrimp or some higher club who recognize his potential and are prepared to back their judgement with a transfer fee.

A win win signing for me and good to see youngsters who have showed potential been given a chance to step up to first team squad duties.

Ibrahim is one to watch for me. A centre half although young and raw may be given a chance sooner than expected.

A call back from City with Saturday in view is a possibility.

Wonder if DA has had a word with Drummy and Kevin both of whom know a bit about Ibrahim having watched his progression with us to date.

Those who saw him in preseason sounded impressed at the time.

Would be ironic that due to 2 red cards that DA has by accident been forced to give youth a go and has unearthed a couple of youngsters more than capable of becoming first team regulars in the not too distant future. Could mean that DA can concentrate on other positions knowing that Ibrahim and Carlos are capable of bigger things. Will be interesting to see how things develop.

:?: :?: :?:
