I remember him running coaches to away games in the NPL days. A really good guy.
R.I.P Joe.

Sad news.
Joe was a Shrimp through and through, went on a minibus to away games many times driven by Joe in the days when we were lowly in the NPL, still had many happy times despite not winning many.
RIP Joe.

Another character of MFC passes. He did a lot of work for the club during the NPL days. I remember him driving us to one of the North Shield games one Tuesday evenin, sadly we arrived a few minutes after kick-off and we were winning! Lost 4-2 though. H drove that mini bus to many away games! R.I.P joe

We drove right around the ground seeing the floodlights but couldn’t find a way into the ground.
Joe dropped everyone off, I was first in the ground, just in time to see Bobby Grimshaw score from a free kick to put us 1-0 up.
I was the only Shrimps fan to see us score, we lost 4-1 I remember. This was following an epic 4-4 after extra time encounter in the previous game at Christie, which was a belting game.
Meat slice at half time was lovely.
Sadly North Shields went to the wall, they got decent crowds midweek, but everyone deserted them and went to the Toon on Saturdays!!

How many times did we play them in the same season? We always seemed to get in front then lose! Remember the chips they made in their frying pan??

Bizarre, I was going to mention the homemade chips with the meat slice, funny how some things stick in your mind!!
I think that game may well have been the second replay but could be wrong.
I do remember going 4-3 up in extra time after being 3-2 down, with only seconds left Shields tricky winger skinned everyone and just trickled it onto a corner!! Bugger!
