Interesting how one fan reckons we are like Ross County in size and funds available and that he likes operating on a small budget.

Couldn't get much smaller than ours....but it's not often those with big budgets find success

I think so too. He is a young ambitious manager with a good track record in Scotland & England. He knows how to operate on a small budget and knows his way round League 2. I don’t think he will take any nonsense - if any - and I now feel a lot happier with this appointment

Maybe it is time for a completely fresh start. just hope that the club gets the backing off the field

So the Adams we saw was largely successful but had a nightmare end to his tenure and in the end the vast majority of fans were ready to see him go. I counted myself in the minority who felt his project was one that in time would be successful. There is no doubt that by the end no-one was shocked when he went and the majority were happy he had.

Positives...he will get you organised , has a wealth of contacts, is a genuinely nice guy despite his outward persona. He doesn't suffer fools gladly and don't expect your post match reaction interviews to be remotely informative or useful. The feedback when he joined was that he was a talent who could start a fight in an empty room and who divides opinion. For the bulk of his tenure at Argyle he was on an upward curve and any idiosyncrasies were forgiven because of that. The season before last, bottom at Xmas to almost in the play offs surge was one of the more remarkable things I have experienced in football and we simply ran out of fit players in the end.

He can and will work to a budget, is tactically astute and will win you games you won't expect to. Equally he can be stubborn and make changes too late to make an impact...or so it was felt.

He brought us players no-one had heard of and who left as long term heroes to the GA. Notably Carey and Lameiras, but also Bradley, David Fox and to a lesser extent Ryan Edwards. Ladapo on a free from Southend and sold for 400K was a great bit of business in hindsight but he was one of the players that he seemingly fell out with as well.

Negatives. He seems to fall out with people...so his number 2's were ejected unceremoniously, and he had a long running falling out with Ainsworth at Wycombe....mind you that isn't hard. His transfer dealing can be perplexing...Greg Wylde was brought in, loaned out, sold on, re-signed and then ignored before being shipped out again. That said when he arrived players followed him to Argyle which speaks to his ability to command loyalty.

He isn't gregarious. But behind the scenes he does good things.

We got the the play-offs season 1...but played abysmally at Wembley , promoted Season 2, play off challenge from nowhere season 3 and then the disaster that was last season....

As for playing style, well he likes to keep things tight and protect a lead so don't expect free flowing football.

In the hindsight we all possess as football fans I think he will be watched with interest from Argyle and except for when we play, the majority will want him to do well.

There will be a few who never took to him and will always see the worst in him.

I think he is a good acquisition for you and I hope he does well. I'll be keeping a weather eye on your results as I always thought he was a good manager.

I'd much prefer free flowing, attacking, floor driven football BUT it's a result driven business.

For me it shows that we are an ambitious club despite our finances and when he is a success with us it will do his CV a world of good. Winners all....

Being fair, black morse,and it's not a criticism because I appreciate there are somewhat extenuating geographical circumstances, but you're not paying to go watch it every other week, or every week for those that travel, so if the football is dull, you're not suffering in quite the same way as some of us. We don't yet know what we'll get though, so I'm certainly not going to start criticising the new manager until he's been given a fair crack of the whip, based on the opinion of a single Plymouth fan (who, again, I'm not criticising or calling a liar, as I simply want to wait and find out the truth for myself).

(Whew, tried not to offend anyone there, so hopefully don't need to apologise.)

Let me be clear,,,he brought us two of the best creative players I have seen in Green in Carey and Lameiras....Carey second only to Buszacky who was a genius and did it in the Championship....but we never regularly smashed teams....lots of well ground out 1-0's...away to Doncaster sticks in the mind.....could have been four to five one to them on chances ....but we scored ours and then sat back and soaked it up.

We also did the same to Liverpool reserves in the cup, both games.....and in both games had one great chance to either win it or draw it....

One thing for sure...you will be in for an interesting January window!

Free, flowing football is pretty rare at this kind of level. You can't expect league 2 players to be knocking it about like Barca or Juve. More creativity is needed as well tightening the defence up. If we get that balance of creating chances and not shipping soft goals, i am sure DA will be well received.

Certainly a left field appointment and very surprising, pleasantly so.
