Yes, Derek talked about aiming for L1 pre match

The "budget" word wasn't mentioned once.

I always said, that if my thoughts/ opinion regarding our previous manager and Morecambe F.C. were wrong, then I would be first to hold my hands up. Well If tonight is a basis for the future, then they are up as far as they will go. Fantastic result achieved, and deserved. COYS.

That's good to hear something positive rather than moaning about flooded training pitches , low budgets , and talking about the opposition as being like Barcelona etc

The cast offs played out of their skins tonight. All those wasted years

All three goals had one thing in common. That one thing, Aaron Wildig. Wildig got in the box more tonight than he has done in the last 3 years. He won the pen, scored the 2nd and should have had another but missed his header which then fell to Luke. He is a class act when making those runs from deep. I can see him scoring 5-10 goals this season if he stays fit.

We played as a team, frequently chasing and closing-down in two's and three's, winning the ball in the second or third tackle, and moving forward in numbers. Brewitt was awesome. Wildig was awesome. Tutte's penalty and work effort was awesome. Stockton was awesome. Lavelle was captain supreme. Leitch-Smith made a real difference when he came on. The whole team worked hard, improved and performed well. Plenty of room for improvement, like in direct forward play, but confidence should be taken from this to take opponents on. We have the players, it's how they are directed and encouraged that counts. Onwards on upwards! :D

You beat me to it.

Strange how the last two home games there has been no mention of such things.

Positivity breads positivity.

Totally agree, a bright start from the new boss and the team, 3 goals that had Mark, on the PA, struggling as he hasn't used the words "third goal" for a long time , it's all about looking forward now and being the 12th man!!

You've got to remain positive, even when the negative forces rear their ugly head.
Can't tell you how good it is to see a distinct lack of moaning, long may it continue and well done to the new manager for making it happen.

Interesting that you point that out - DA in his Radio Lancs interview after the match said that he shifted to a 3-4-1-2. I'm guessing this meant Tutte/Brewitt as the central midfield duo, with Wildig at No10 support Stockton/AJ? Perhaps being in this role freed him up a bit?

I've watched the 10 minute highlights on site, and it was great to see such a positive second half reaction. What I found particularly encouraging was in attack - seeing some of the things DA has mentioned already starting to come to fruition. I firmly believe we do have some really good creative players and DA has spoken about harnessing that (that's how I've interpreted what he's said in interviews), and some of the link up play going forward just on the highlights looked superb. AJ really can provide that extra bit of quality too, that much was very evident just from the highlights.

When he shifted it in the 2nd half, the thing i noticed was that Cole and AJ were not isolated like they have been. You had the midfield and defence on top if each other and then a 30 yard gap to the strikers. Not last night. Everybody had an option, an angle for a pass. I highlighted Wildig but Cole Stockton had his best game since his return. He had people to knock it down too. He had runners taking away defenders so he had space to get shots away. The difference last night was massive.

I think Quinny asked more questions in that 3min interview than what he has for the past 7 years

At the end Derek says on saturday they players should go and play with belief and confidence :o has he not got the memo that we are little old Morecambe and it's fine to get beat as long as we try hard and scrapping for a point is just fine.

Over past weeks, lots of people have said (on here at in person at matches) that they were disappointed by poor playing from what is actually a strong and talented squad. The last 3 games have shown what they're really capable of and they are clearly getting better with each game as their confidence grows.

Last night, even Old and Lavelle were growing in confidence and happy to take the ball further than ever into the opposition's half. Gone are the days where they stopped dead at the half way line, afraid to go further so had to do sideways/backwards passes.

All they've needed was to be let off the leash! Kev/Baz allowed them to do that and now Derek is fine-tuning it.

Absolutely brilliant last night that 3 players who've not really played to their abilities recently were on the score sheet. Really pleased for them and let's hope they can go from strength to strength now.

I bet there are a few sore legs after last night. The likes of Wildig who rarely gets 90mins put a real shift in. In the 85min he was jogging back in to the middle but DA got on to him and he sprinted to catch up with play.

Aye they were standing in the middle of our half and were getting waved forward as was AJ when he was back to defend, bit of a culture shock

Yes , I noticed DA telling AJay to move to the halfway line. Very refreshing.
