How refreshing for a manager to tell it like it is with no hiding from the fact that we didn't do what he wanted. Sounds as though the squad is too big and unbalanced. Expect some significant changes both in January and at the end of the season.
He said that some players are doing ok but others are simply not up to the challenge.
I suspect some favourites could be on their way and not too soon either for me.
Delighted we've a manager who doesn't make excuses when we simply don't turn up.

I think the problem is how do we move on contracted players.
Do you think the youngsters might go to make room for experience.
Interesting when he said some things are becoming obvious.

We had that problem last season when the club couldn't shift Adam Campbell.
A very insightful interview from DA about the squad. Unbalanced, players not up to it and changes in January.
Who would you keep and who would you let go?

I suspect Derek's Christmas list this year will be pretty long.

Just listened to the interview and it sounded like DA was out of breath, either he has run up a lot of stairs to the interview or he has just hairdryerd the team
Looks like there will be no hiding places anymore for some of this squad, onward and upward

Who would you keep and who would you let go?
Miller,
Mendes Gomes
Jagne
Kenyon
O'Sullivan
Sutton
Ellison
Should be released and if there are no plans to use Gomes and jagne they and perhaps some other fringe players and journey men shown the door

The problem is how many of those are still under contract and would have to be paid off?

Yep that's were the wheeling and dealing starts,
I think all those have contracts that end in the summer, apart from sully
so :-
" sorry guys you won't be offered a new contract but if you negotiate and contract with another club we would be willing to release you early"
Anymore to add to the list or remove from it ??

Maybe AFC Fylde will come in for some of our players which would make squad changes easier. I would keep O'Sullivan as I think he is a decent player. We need a decent commanding centre half to partner Sam Lavelle and probably a couple of decent full backs. I wonder if Andy Fleming's medical condition has been finalised as quite rightly we have been paying his salary pending this.

Starting to look like we need a whole new squad

Aj is a concern for me. Undoubted quality but it looks like after last seasons major injury, he has started to pick up lots of niggles. Maybe it is a confidence thing and he won't play unless 100% or maybe he is just unlucky. Either way, he won't be cheap and can we afford to have him on the wage bill.
Release
Kenyon
Old
Tutte
Conlan
Miller
Lewis
Kev
Buxton and AJ need to get fit quickly
I like Wildig, I think DA will get the best out of him, the same with Stockton. O'Sullivan is a genuine winger but I think he looks heavy. He along with Oates(when fit) could be decent width.
We need someone who can put their foot on the ball and control the game from the middle. Kenyon is just not good enough for League 2 football.

I agree with most of your list of players needing to be released Berlin Waller. I would also add Wildig for to me he doesn't get stuck in when the going gets tough and he tends not to play the creative passes but sideways and back. I realise he has been a good player but think his injuries have taken their toll and he is no longer ready for the fight that we are in for the rest of the season. I also think Cole Stockton hasn't consistently got what it takes to be a regular goal scorer. He seems to need that bit longer to get his shot away than a good defender will allow him.

And to think that this squad was being hailed pre season by fans and management alike as one of the best for quite a while

Wildig isn't a creative midfielder and he has been guilty of just floating through games. For me, he is at his best making deep runs in to the box and he is the only player we have capable of doing so. Unfortunately for him, lack of midfielders and defensive tactics have stopped him from doing this. I saw glimpses of the player he should be against Carlisle, i hope he can do that on a regular basis under DA.
Cole is a basic number 9. No frills but decent in the air and able to hold it up. Like Aaron, I thought he showed what he could do against Carlisle when we played to his strengths. I think he is worth sticking with but we need to get players near him and balls in to the box rather than the over passing the ball style of the previous management.

Stockton is definitely not up to the job for me. I said it after only a couple of games, but was shot down by the footy experts, who found every conceivable excuse for him??? The Crewe defence “minced “ him yesterday, again.

One little note of optimism from yesterday, I thought Jordan Cranston looked really up for it coming on as sub. OK he could hardly make matters worse coming on at 3-0 down, but he looked fitter than previous appearances. He will probably get more starts if Sam's red card is upheld, and I think we'll be glad of him. The whole squad needs to get fitter and faster, and if some of the young ones could grow a bit taller that would help as well.

Would anyone like Gregg Wilde back. He will have connections with the manager via Plymouth

On paper it possibly was but long gone are the heady days of Twiss, Baker, Duffy and co
Now it's make do with anyone who can kick a football, just like Oldham.

I think you are doing the players a injustice there. They are what they are but you are out of order there.

The table backs that up and why would you be calling for virtually the whole squad being sacked off, if that wasn't the case?

Regardless if they leave or they all get 10 year deals, you always support the players wearing the shirt.
These lads are professionals and to say we are making do with anyone who can kick a ball is wrong. "The old master" chose to sign these lads after all.

If you have to work within the many constraints Jim had to, maybe the barrel had been scraped to the metal.
Even if big money was available, which it won't ever be in this town, you still wouldn't be able to attract the kind of world beaters you so desperately crave.

How easy it is to forget who we had on loan .....
Currently without a club having had his contract at Livingston cancelled in September.

You're joking, my lad wanted a Morecambe shirt with Neymar JR on the back. I guess it's the same as who would ever want to manage Morecambe and nobody would touch the job eh?
Slagging the players and the town off in two posts there.
