Food bank collection at the Carlisle game...

Postby Freez » Tue Nov 26, 2019 6:54 pm

Please help those in need at Yuletide and if you could spare a packet of pasta or a tin of beans please bring it for collection against Carlisle on 7th December.
The club initiative was such a success last year, with your generosity ensuring three Luton vans were filled with food and toys which were sent to the Morecambe food bank and the toys distributed to families in need and children in the RLI over Christmas.
It’s a great thing that the club try and do, backed by you we can all make someone’s festive period a bit better, oh and three points against the Cumbrians, Newport and Oldham wouldn’t go amiss!!! :D

Do we know if there is any way for people not coming to the game to help/support?

I’ll put an extra one in for you AR. A great effort by club and supporters, for a very worthy cause.

My sister is collecting 'Christmas Shoe Boxes' for homeless & vulnerable people. You can drop stuff off at Eden Music, on Skipton Street (used to be 'The Pottery Basement'). Put toiletries etc, gloves, woollen hats etc in a 'shoe box' (or just a carrier bag!) If placing sanitary products in, mark the box 'female'. Also, feel free to drop off food.

They are donating the collected items either directly to people who are rough sleeping in Morecambe, or directly to Lancaster's homeless shelter.

Keith,

Just out of interest, do your sister & her husband do CDs as well, or are they vinyl purists? I've only a small house with no room for a massive record collection, or even a record player. Even the CDs get taken out of the boxes and put into plastic sleeves to save space.

They have some CD's but I'm not sure how big a selection they have. Pop in & have a look sometime when you're in town.

It's my old primary school mate Mark, shop's coming along nicely and I'll have to go through his vinyl selection after finding my old 1970s plastic case Fidelity portable turntable complete with period imitation wood strip :D
Best of all it's still as good as the day it was bought :o

Thanks you Keith for offering to help me donate via him, but doing more research I've discovered I can donate directly to Morecambe Food Bank via JustGiving: https://donate.justgiving.com/donation-amount?uri=aHR0cHM6Ly9kb25hdGUtYXBpLmp1c3RnaXZpbmcuY29tL2FwaS9kb25hdGlvbnMvMDNhNjg5ZjdjMzIyNDU1MTkwMDZlYjJmZDU4ZjU2ODQ=

Did anybody think to get in touch with any media station. It could give the club a bit of a profile.

I hope this was well supported yesterday. It is really sad that such things exist in todays world but nothing but respect for the people that run them.
