The more I listen to DA post match the more I like his style of discussing match details with the media.

No excuses just facts and about the game that we have all seen.

For the interview scroll down to the 7th post match interview.

Do you think he cheers up at home?

Does he just have a professional no nonse attitude at work or is he like that all the time.

I doubt DA will ever get as close to the fans as JB did but remember JB had 17 years in which to nurture that relationship.

DA is here to do a job. Not to win any popularity contests. If he succeeds in saving us from the dreaded thought of relegation and all that would follow ( anybody noticed how Chesterfield have dropped down the National league :?: ) then he will have earned our respect and gratitude. Maybe then he will be in a position to get a wee bit closer to the fans, but don't expect him ever to be as close as JB who at times was too close.

DA interviews well imo, no comparisons, to anybody else, just like his style, very straight.
Short and sweet, summing the game up well(?)

Funny how Jim did that repeatedly but never earned that respect or gratitude from some?

But yes, new era, new style. As long as he's successful, that's fine.

I mentioned about how he conducts himself on the match thread yesterday. He may change once he has been here a while but it is still "Morecambe" not "We" when he speaks. There are no nick names or friendly terms. It is purely business and seems to be about respect. There will be no cliques and players will be judged on merit and suitability. He does sound a bit dour but that seems to be a trend with Scottish Managers. He is here to do a job, he has got back in to football and I am sure he is keen to show everyone he can still a good job. I am loving this appointment more and more.

The new manager will have seen for himself how weak we are down the left side of our defence. Carlisle right sided attacker cut through us repeatedly. I am sure left back will be on his January shopping list!

Agreed about the left back position , I have thought for quite a while that so many of our defensive problems come from that area. I am very happy with Tanner at right back , he is being given licence to rampage into the other half of the field too. Is he on a year's loan , anoraks ?

He must be worried about the lack of pace in the team generally though so I hope he has some players up his sleeve to improve that. Some will have to be shipped out to make room in the budget though.

The real deal imo. He did a fantastic job as LB at Mansfield.
A fully fit Buxton, shedding a bit of conditioning, combined with a Conlan and Tanner, maybe we could play the one, in varying position to suit our opposition? For me,Conlan has plenty to offer still.

Tanner is a shining light for us, IMO. Conlan is with us for another 18 months, so doubt he will be off anywhere. The budget wouldn't allow us to replace a player while the other is still here.

DA has already said that the squad is unbalanced and too large which suggests that he knows he will have to unload come January to bring in his own kind of player.

I hope that he doesn't sacrifice some of our younger squad players as they are our future.

So that leaves only first team squad players and then it becomes a lottery as who to loan out or to even to come to some arrangement about terminating their contract.

Tutte? Kevin? Buxton? Sutton? Conlon? Stockton? Miller? Cranston?

I suspect that very few are safe.... :o

Who'd be a manager..... :?: :?: :?:

With Derek we are getting something totally different. I remember Radio Lancashire did a feature with the Devon equivalent and they said don't expect him to give much away with his interviews.

He sounds methodical, professional and tactically more astute than Jim. What he lacks though is obviously the larger than life personality and warm nature that got Jim through tough times.

I think Derek will get the best out of most of our squad through getting them significantly fitter, well drilled, more balanced and tactically better positioned.

Some won't like his school master style but he will ship them out and bring in players that buy into what he is trying to do.

A change is what has been needed for more than just this season not only in tactics but also in all aspects of team and individual man management.

If DA appears aloof but gets us results then all well and good. He knows that football is a result based business and he will do it his way that at times may not please fans like myself who want to be entertained. But if he develops a winning mentality in his players then I'd sacrifice entertainment for us to become more than just a team flirting with relegation season after season which has become the norm for far too long.

He could possibly "ship out" Alessandra and Miller depending upon their contacts. Other than that, players will only leave in January if they want to go. Can't see many of the players on your list leaving for another League club, so...

But if they are offered more money at say a National League club then they would probably go knowing that we can't compete in the wages game with many from that league ..... :?: :?: :?:

Interesting times ahead for our club in the New Year.... ;)

If Allesandra is let go/ “shipped out,” I think it would be a mistake by DA. On Sat, he looked to be back to the exciting form he showed at the beginning of the season.
Miller can definitely go, shown very little so far.

I think Alessandra seems to have lost some of his pace since the start of the season. Miller is on a season long loan so no chance of him being shipped out.

Allesandra looked pretty lively on Sat to me. Not sure how he would lose some pace, apart from fitness/ injury problem, but a possibility.

Lewis isn't a pacey player, he is very technical. He needs the ball at his feet and players around him to be effective. He did look better on Saturday but he did over do it a few times. Could DA sacrifice him to bring in another player? It would be a big call.

Are we sure Miller can't be returned to his home team early? If at all possible, I'd be looking to end the loan agreement. Then hopefully DA can bring in another loan striker akin to Collins or Lang like the last couple of seasons. I don't think Miller is ever going to do the job for us - can't fathom why Jim brought him back - he didn't set the world on fire the first time nor at his other clubs since.

Can't understand why people are so against Lewis - like them all, he has his good and bad games, but he must be our top scorer this season, fit enough to play the full 90 minutes, creates chances for others, etc. He's certainly not one of the biggest problems facing DA so I'd hope he's left to carry on what he's doing.

DA needs to be looking for a new LB, new CB and midfielder as priorities to stop the leaky defence.

Then if possible, some new life up front, like I say, if Miller can be sent back, then get another young loanee from a higher tier team looking for game time like Collins and Lang were.

Given the lack of youngsters on the bench in the last couple of months, I wonder if they're already training with other teams ready for loans to be formalised in January? Very strange that none are even getting on the bench at all.

I think it is the situation with Lewis and his contract that puts it on the SV agenda. "Short term" seems to suggest it is up in Jan so DA has a choice to make. Does he commit to Lewis and offer him a new deal or does he let him go and use that slice of the budget elsewhere?

Totally agree with your comments on Miller Ken, he is similar to AJ and Lewis but not on their level. Hopefully his loan can be terminated and we can balance the squad out.

Was the Lewis deal not paid for by Rod, then he asked for help towards it? The Flemmo situation also needed financing.
I noticed our squad was 3 or so players bigger than Carlisles according to the programme, does seem a waste of valuable funds when 10 of them are never seen
