interesting to see that one of Accy's scorers against Pompey was signed from sixth tier Leamington.

goes to show it's not always about money, but finding gems that are out there in non-league !

Yeah....If Jim had found 11 free "gems" we would probably be top of the league now...hopefully our new boss will find some in January and we will make the playoffs!!!

How many players during JB's time did we actually sign from non league... :?: :?: :?:

Redshaw, Kenyon and Halstead immediately come to mind....all of whom have proved successful.

It's NEVER been about money and ALWAYS about finding gems! Jim was very good at spotting players who had 'lost their way' even if already at League clubs but with a career going backwards, such as Devitt et al.

So how did that work out then?

I've just posted on the other thread about us signing old lags on the way down rather than hungry players on the way up. This being by far the worst season for that.

Accy have shown that smart recruitment can be a difference when money is tight. The other showing it this season is Macclesfield. Despite not being paid and umpteen problems their squad is 9 points ahead of us and arguably worse budget. Over half their squad is from non-league and under 24.

Some fair and interesting posts. I don’t know why every manager/ team in the league haven’t done it. It’s that easy. ;)
