Very interesting I wondered if a few had been left out on Sat to rest them with having two games in a week but obviously not looking at tonights squad.

When Morecambe reserves played Blackpool recently, Derek apparently said that everyone playing except Jordan Cranston & Kevin Ellison were available for transfer. Yet, neither Jordan or Kevin have even made the bench since. Can't work that out?

Well done to Mr Adams for stamping his authority on the team / club

It's about time and has been needed for a long time

The team are next to bottom and something had to drastically change simple as that

Then why not say Kev & Jordan are also free to leave?

I don’t follow :? There are only 17 named in the line up for tonight’s game, are you saying Derek wants rid of all the rest of the squad?

The additional sub has to be a home grown 'development' player (three years with the club).

It was the Blackpool reserves game that Derek said the players could go.

Newbies
Dave played a good game trying to break up their play, and payed a few good passes off
Slew looks like he is get back into his groove,
Phillips played well again, hope it not a bad injury
Cooney had a good game also, looked a little tired second half but perhaps not used to the step up
All in All when these lads get up to speed and match fit they will be good additions to the squad

Cranston has hardly featured and got totally slammed on here when he got sent off.

Would you rather Kev be in the starting line up or would you rather have Carlos? DA is getting the squad right and if players don't make the match day squad, they better work harder to impress.

Phillips is looking the best of the new lads and the clarets are looking to loan more players out to get regular games under their belts, a great link up.

Makes you wonder why Kev doesn't seem to be playing or on bench, always thoughts hes given his best on the pitch.
How much do we think is based on attitude and effort in training on DA decisions when picking teams. I for one think there are a few who have been too used to being picked when probably they shouldn't have been in the past.
Kenyon seems a totally different player under Adam's, much more confidence and composure on the pitch, Gomes needs to he signed up to a new contract quick

It is no shock, that it suits some on here, to have a very short memory, regarding some of our players. The best 90 minute performance for a long time, including last night, was Bradford, also reiterated by our manager, if age isn’t affecting my memory. Unfortunately we didn’t get our just rewards. Non of our new signings involved.
That doesn’t mean, that I don’t think the new blood have been very good signings , and added to our squad, and performances, absolutely no doubt that they have.

Ok riddle master, answer me this. Would you rather see 40 year old Kev Ellison on the left wing or would you rather young Carlos given the chance?

Too many have had it easy at the club and coasted. The odd good game doesn't cut, we have seen a consistently improved performance under DA. The likes of Alex, Old and Cole have flourished and that is a credit to them.

I wondered if DA picking is players that were taking his instructions on board.

So take Kenyon for example he just tells him sit infront of the back four don't do anything fancy which suits him, it's when he is played more as a general midfielder and expected to find more attacking passes that he struggles.

I think he has run out of patience with the attackers it sounded like he was trying to work with them in training on the final ball and getting them into positions but come match day it still wasn't happening.

I wondered if he just wanted to bring all his own players in but he has given others a chance like Kenyon, Carlosl, etc so you can't say people haven't had the opportunity.

I'd have expected Kev to be on the bench or told he can leave.
I'd have expected Jordan to be on the bench or told he can leave.

Would appear odd to say they can't leave while also not being in the squad.

I don't think anyone is seriously saying that Kev wasn't putting a shift in... ...well, perhaps they are.

No Keith, nobody has said Kev wasn't putting a shift in. More fake news.

I will ask you, Carlos or Kev? If DA hadn't have taken over, we would have still been relying on 40yr old Kev whilst CMG rotted in the ressies.

I don’t get why this discussion is so hard to comprehend for some...

We could only have 6 subs due to the homegrown rule and we have in excess of 17 players. Therefore there are going to be players who miss out. With Carlos, Slew and O’Sullivan in the 17, there is no room for Kev, and with Brewitt and Conlan (/Tanner on Saturday) on the bench yesterday, there’s no need for Jordan.

The argument about Kev trying his hardest is irrelevant. Carlos has been trying his hardest and is much better. Even Slew was better, despite his lack of fitness due to the step up from Ashton United.

Keith, I don’t get your point, we can’t just tell everyone who’s not in the squad of 17/18 players that they need to go. We need back-ups for injuries - Kev and Cranston not looking to be shipped on, but also not being on the bench, is very normal. Derek’s tried to cut the squad from 30 to the low 20s, not to 17.
