Lost 5 nil against a bunch of kids
Certainly all put themselves in the shop window for a move
Sure Mr Adams will be very impressed with that performance

How did Rhys Oates do? Is that his first game this year?

Rhys barely got a touch of the ball. Clearly most of the older JB recruits are dispirited. Tutte strolled around as if he was playing in the park with his kids. Buxton showed lots of nice touches and skill, and Jagne tried to inject some life into midfield
Wigan were young, talented and appeared to be much stronger physically

5 or 6 players who DA is treating as surplus to requirements. Doesn't look too good if we are hoping other clubs will recruit them.

Indeed, surprising to see everyone still in the reserve team at this late stage. I'd have expected 1 or 2 to be absent (training with other teams) pending an official transfer announcement tomorrow. If they're all still here, perhaps none are going anywhere and that will really scupper Derek's plans for new signing(s).

Wow....really am surprised at that......NOT....
How did Kevin do....
At least it sounds as though Buxton showed some professional pride.
Would have liked Jagne to have impressed.

I think the senior pro's in that team will have minimal appeal to any pro/semi pro outfits for a variety of reasons, take your pick, bad attitude, poor fitness levels, age, are just three. They will no doubt be happy to collect a wage to the end of their contracts for doing very little, rather than bust a gut to get a place back in the first team. Never say never, but in my opinion some of them will never feature again in our first team squad or anyone's first team squad at a decent level. One exception will hopefully be Rhys Oates who has been unfortunate with a long term injury but can hopefully make it back.

Yikes... Just watched the 'high' lighs. Poor defending for most of the goals. The second one shows Tutte strolling back and putting in little effort to keep up with play. Keeper looks a bit green, to say he's been on our first team bench before Congos number one arrived.

Agree Rhys Oates can be a dynamic player when he's regained match fitness, but also Buxton, although having a chubby physique, works hard in games, good in the tackle, passes well, gets up and down the pitch, has a powerful shot, then tires toward the end, but could still give us decent LB cover. Also potentially Jagne.

Kev did ok second half. In reality Wigan had some good strikers and our young defenders struggled. Highlight for me was my pie, peas and gravy!

How things change.
Here's the official match programme of the Lancs Senior Cup Final 1967-68. An amazing team, for Burnley as well!!

Looks like Buxton played No.3 for Burnley in that game!

Made a few appearances in August, but was taken off at half time away to Oldham in September and that was it, so harsh with injuries

We're the only non-League team to win the Lancashire Senior Cup, back when it was a competition that was taken seriously. We lost to Man City in the last final for many years, the week after winning the FA Trophy.

The first Senior Cup Final against Burnley was the first game of many for me when I was just eight years old. Christie park was packed to the rafters that night. The second against Man City we got well beat but as you say it was just after the Trophy win at Wembley. Big teams did take it seriously then and I remember the great Joe Corrigan being in goals for them that day. Compare that to nowadays when many 'big' teams can't even play a first team in the FA Cup. It's all about the money nowadays, unfortunately to the detriment of football in general.

Was that the game where some W@**** threw a dart? If I remember correctly, it got stuck in the post. Somethings have improved over the decades!

Yes unfortunately some brain dead moron threw a dart towards the City goal and it lodged in the rear of a post. There seemed to be a craze for throwing dangerous items about in those days. I went to a Burnley v Leeds game in the 70's at Turf Moor and one poor fella was led away with a dart sticking out of his head. Thank god things have calmed down nowadays!
