Received an email this morning claiming to be from BT.com saying that I had to check into my account to approve a new price increase. Looked very convincing until I noticed that it was from Bt.com NOT BT.com.

If you or your elderly parents or whoever are BT customers I suggest you get in touch with them to warn them about this latest and very convincing email.

These scammers are getting more an more sophisticated in how they do the graphics and on first impression could quite easily fool a growing number of people.

It obviously is a way of conning the unsuspected out of money and must prove very effective in building up a regular cash cow.

Technically, it's irrelevant that it comes from BT.com, Bt.com or bT.com, email addresses aren't case sensitive so they are all one & the same. However, it's when you dig into the address you see it's a scam.
The best way with any possibel scam email is to check the link they will all include. That's what they want you to do, click it to go to a scam or hacked site.
If you use Outlook, all links are scanned by Outlook and it does a damned good job of warning you if you have clicked a dodgy link. Should be mandatory for anyone over 60  (that includes my own family!)
