It has been interesting seeing which clubs have started bringing in players first. Mansfield and FGR have been active and Bolton seem to be chucking money at it with the signing of Eoin Doyle. Barrow brought in 3 yesterday including Luke James.
I read somewhere that almost 1000 footballers will be unattached and available on free transfers. I would like to think DA will be more measured with his signings rather than a kid in a sweet shop. It looks like it will be a buyers market and players once out of our reach may become more affordable.

I thought Bolton were skint? Have they found another sugar daddy or still living beyond their means?

Doyle was a free signing but looks like the latest owners mean business from the off.

Paid £250000 for Evatt and Doyle can't have come cheap. Had his pick of clubs but chose Bolton.

Because of the offer of a 3yr contract which even Swindon couldn't compete with!

With a start date of 12th September there is going to be precious little time for clubs to make signings, have some kind of a truncated pre-season and be ready to go so soon. The next week or two are surely going to be a mad scramble of football related business trying to get ready for a fast approaching start date!

According to the Twitter account "EFL Hub" Morecambe F.C. are to sign someone today. Not sure how reliable this source is though. Time will tell !

Bret Pittman is of interest both to ourselves and to Swindon.
As much as I'd be delighted if we signed him or even another such proven striker I doubt that he would uproot his family and move North when he could stay where he lives at the moment and simply sign for Swindon on one would assume better money and without the hassle of a move.....but footballers are nomadic by nature so one never knows.
What it does show hopefully that DA is thinking of proven quality rather than a 'make do' approach.

They also mention us as being interested in a striker called Gavin Reilly. He is Scottish and scored quite a few goals for Queen of the South.

Was on a six month loan at Cheltenham last season before returning to parent club Bristol Rovers. Not sure if he was retained by BR or not.

"Footballers are nomadic by nature" must be one of the best lines I have ever read on here

Barrow seem to be investing money in a few new players having signed Matty Platt from Blackburn who I seem to think was on loan with them for part of last season.
Will be interesting to see what type of player DA brings to the club. I'd like to think that he was after 'quality' not just numbers which anybody could do.
I'd much prefer signings who have worked for DA in the past or his father who acts as his scout (
) has recommended knowing the type of player his son places faith in.....

A number of rumours flying about on Twitter (particularly last night) from various EFL transfer accounts. Redshaw, Paul Anderson, David Perkins, Connor Simpson (tall striker from Preston we were linked with last year) and Ryan Taylor all been mentioned. Also Brett Pitman, which would be a shock considering he's not been further north than Ipswich!
Can never know with these accounts, a lot of their rumours seems like they could have been made up through 'convenience'. Redshaw is a former player obviously but the connection is with JB, and he's been plagued by injury over the last few years. Shaun Miller also got churned out in the name generator a few weeks back, but DA didn't seem to fancy him at all during his loan.
Judging by the article in the Visitor, it does seem like we are close to annoucning some names. Would love for them to be announced now but I've got a feeling we'll get told once the team gets back to training.
