This season: After 10 matches, 16 points, 5 wins.

Last season: After 10 matches, 6 points, 1 win.

It took us 22 matches to reach 16 points last season.

After 10 games this season we have on average a third of our points from the previous few seasons.

Our record against teams above us is played five, lost four and won one. Our record against teams below us is played five, won four and drawn one.

I find it very comforting that we are managing to dispatch struggling sides, making sure to rack up points in the more 'winnable' games. Maybe not the same 'epic' feeling of beating a table topping side, but making sure we're getting lots of points against weaker teams is a good starting point for helping us climb the table. It's something we've not done well for a long time.

Obviously the next step is to be more competitive against the top sides, and we have shown we can do that against Cheltenham on the opening day. Exeter will be a big test on Tuesday, so let's hope we can at least put in a good competitive display.

You've missed Port Vale out.

Our record is 2 wins, 4 losses against teams above us. 3 wins, 1 draw against teams below us.

I agree with your overall point though, if we can beat the teams in the bottom half and snatch the odd win against teams in the top half we'll be in a very good position.

In 10 games we have 50% of the total points we gained from 37 games last season.

Derek has now managed 30 league games and has 35 points.

Derek's Radio Lancs interview with Quinny is a good listen. Very upbeat, best performance of the season and says everyone should be delighted with the points tally. I agree with him, he has got us going in the right direction. There are some strange comments about Wildig and Phillips playing together but they are our 2 main goal threats with Wildig playing his best football since he came here. The Slew hate is another one i don't get, looked like he put a proper shift in today and unlucky not to score. It is clear that DA has players who fit his system and not about individuals. Players who were already here are thriving under him and you can see why he has signed the players he has.

I can't find any reason to be unhappy or the need for perspective.

Just listened to DA's interview and have to say how positive he sounds, praising the team for what he rates as their best performance of the season.

He's certainly one for building up the confidence of his players but isn't afraid of saying how it is after a less than poor performance.

Sounds as though he is working under an even tighter budget than previous seasons...20% was mentioned so he's done an excellent job to date in re building the squad more than capable of holding a midfield position this season.

I do have concerns about his subs policy from time to time but overall he's been a breath of fresh air and a complete change from previous managers.

Long may he continue.... :) :) :)

Ah yes sorry, spot on! Yeah exactly, starting to feel pretty hopeful of a top half finish.

Possibly more from people who didn't watch the game? I don't think anyone who watched it has been critical, certainly not of the miles he put in. As for "unlucky not to score", I really do think it is a confidence thing at the moment, he's too worried about missing. The excellent run on goal, he could have shot for quite a while but carried on, rather than trust himself. I really hope he gets a goal soon and we see his confidence rise.

DA says that the lads are playing for 80% of their wage still. He has mentioned that in the past.

We've had years of them.
The table says it all. The people thinking we'd stay top are in cloud cuckoo land but its good to be seeing us looking how many points we need to get into play offs/automatics rather than the other.

Deserved win yesterday kept us looking up rather than down. I'm glad, as no doubt if it'd gone the other way the doom mongers and hatchet men from the last few seasons would already be sharpening their keyboard warrior skills.
