52 points...

...will it be enough to stay up this season? :D :D :D

It's rather nice to be looking at the top end of the table, thinking about other teams around us and best permutations. Like Bradford v Bolton on Saturday, what would be the best result for us? A draw so one point is lost, or Bolton win to make it harder for Bradford to close the gap, or Bradford to win, which would allow us, if we beat Carlisle, to be five points clear of Bolton, but Bradford's games in hand would mean they could catch us? I think a draw would be best for us.

Then there is Forest Green. FGR have an 'easy' bounce back game after their weird slip up tonight, playing Grimsby, so you'd expect them to win easily. But if we beat bottom of the form table, Carlisle, then win again next Tuesday, we will be above FGR.

It's looking good! :D

51 is the highest ever total to get relegated (by Barnet), so that should be us safe!

It would be a pretty remarkable end to the season for Barrow to reach 50 points, I doubt any of the bottom 3 reach that figure.

Would be interesting to see a league position graph or average position. We have been up there most of the season. What’s our lowest position this season?

Although a great season, I would be a little bit gutted we didn’t make top 7 now we’ve been around it all season.

We were 12th after the loss at Carlisle, and 14th after the Salford loss. We went unbeaten in all comps between those two games though, and then after the latter, we won 6 out of our next 7 games (including Solihull), and then got beaten by Chelsea. We certainly like to rebound!

(Rearranged Bradford/Bolton games showing on their original matchday)

Interesting to see our home/away breakdown. We've had a touted away record this season but our home record is really solid. Three defeats, and five of the 17 goals we conceded were against Cambridge, so that's just 12 conceded in the other 14 games.

I seem to remember it was Jimbo who stated that 50 points were never to stay up. Going on that principle, can it be calculated how many points are needed, (minimum), for the playoffs, and for automatics ?

74 should be enough for the play-offs on the basis of previous years but 72 might do it.

2019: 71
2018: 75
2017: 70
2016: 75
2015: 71
2014: 71
2013: 69
2012: 72
2011: 68
2010: 72

Over last decade (of completed seasons) a low of 68 points and high of 75 points were required to get in the play-offs. 71.4 points was the average, so if we can get 72 points we will probably be in the play offs.

2019: 79
2018: 84
2017: 85
2016: 85
2015: 85
2014: 81
2013: 78
2012: 84
2011: 80
2010: 82

82.3 points has been the average points required for automatic promotion, with 85 the most & 78 the minimum.

One game at a time and all that, but we've a couple of targets there.
