Hypotheticals

Quoting the Carlos thread, Berlin Waller posed an interesting question...

BerlinWaller wrote:With regards any potential sale of Carlos, would you accept:-

A-£250,000 upfront and a 40% sell on clause

Or

B-£750,000 upfront and a 10% sell on clause

So how did that work out then?

...to consider another hypothetical...

What would you choose...

Finishing the season as Champions, but fans not able to attend games until after the last game of the season has been completed...

OR

Winning the Play-Off final at Wembley, with fans in attendance?

I really struggle to answer the second question.

On a personal basis, I'd want to go to Wembley so that at least I'd see something of this season. What a great way to return to football!

But, on the other hand, the history books would always reflect that we were champions in this historical year. What a great way to end our centenary season?

Either would be amazing, but which would be preferable?

Play off all day long for me. Winning the league would be amazing but also hollow. Ask any fan of a club that had success last season and i bet they will say the same. The play offs at an empty Wembley last season just felt sad.

I agree, playoff win would be absolutely fantastic. I am struggling with winning the league being hollow though? To be the best team in the league? Don't get that one.

CHAMPIONS!! Promoted from the NPL in second place, won the play-offs to gain Football League status, nothing wrong with either but a Championship would look very nice thank you! :D What's going on ?? We're talking about going up and winning a league!! :o

I mean hollow as not being there to experience it with the players. Yes being the champions would be amazing and beyond our wildest dreams but would it feel the same without being there? It would just be like being an armchair PL fan and that is not what being a Morecambe fan is about.

Ah I get what you mean! Yeah that would be a shame in that sense. The only thing with playoffs is I don't know if I could take it!

Automatic for me as there’s no guarantee that fans will be allowed back, just a proposal.

Good question! I reckon the staff would take being champions all day long. I don't know for sure but also I imagine you are much more statistically likely to stay up if you are promoted as division winners as opposed to having done it via the play-offs. Depending on various outcomes, could be some fantastic fixtures on the cards: Blackpool, Ipswich, possibly Portsmouth, Sunderland and Sheff Wed. Maybe Birmingham City. Still, better not to get too excited just yet!
