Who will take their places

In addition to the appointment of a new manager I wonder who will take the places of the players who inevitably follow DA to Bradford. I suspect that group will include Stockton, Songo’o, Letheren and Diagourama. There’s also the likelihood we’ll lose the services of Carlos and Sam,transfer targets for several clubs. A new manager faces a huge task recruiting new players to replace the departing players.

If we get in a manager who wants to play a direct style, then the loss of players like Songo'o will be a loss.
If we get a manager in who wants to play a bit more on the deck, then I wouldn't be too bothered.
All of this depends on who we get in. We want to have players that suit the new manager and ones they can get the best out of. Some of our current players may fill that brief, and some may not. It's impossible to say for sure right now who those players will be without knowing who our next manager is.
It's why Rod Taylor is being sensible by not having the board or even John McMahon start doing the retained list. The worry is getting someone in quick enough before deals get made with other clubs.

And so the betting begins.....
https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk ... l-20734295For me I'd like Dave Challinor currently at Hartlepool and formerly at Fylde. His style of football is attractive to the eye based on a passing game and played on the deck.....but what the hell do I know about football.....

Hill seems o be getting a bit of bad press recently and I'm not entirely sure why, Perks used to follow him everywhere so he must have been ok and it shows he would be able to bring players with him (unless Perks was just desperate
)

Graham Howse has just said on Lancs that he would want somebody in by the weekend.

Maybe this was a good time for DA to pursue his career elsewhere and as a result the new manager can build a squad of HIS players and not have to rely on players who do not fit into what could be a different style of football than we are used to.
EFL1 is more of a technical type of football from what I've seen and the tactics employed by DA may not have worked as they did in EFL2.
If we can get a manager in who plays a more attractive style of football then that will do for me.
DA will be long remembered for what he did for OUR club and we are grateful for that, but maybe the time was right for ALL parties.
I wish DA well and hope he can live up to the expectations of a very cynical Bradford fan base who may not be totally on side with his methods....and who could just as quickly turn on him within the space of 6 months.

Totally disagree. We would have been over the moon if Derek was leading us in to League 1. I know we are looking for a silver lining but saying it may be for the best is crackers.
There was a Morecambe before Derek and there will be one after him. Some told us that we would never survive Jim leaving if you remember?
I think RRW put a post on twitter and he is bang on, don't cry because it is over smile because it happened. We move on.

Listened to a few former players on podcasts and Parkinson gets hammered.
I quite like the thought of Alex Neil but he might see it as a big drop.

Flynn from Newport for me , he seems unhappy with the direction the club is going in and a step up to league 1 would surely interest him? Either way i trust rod and Graham to appoint the right man to lead us forward. Seen a certain JB at 16/1 on sky bet!
No thanks!!

Yeah well, not sure how that would come across on Radio Blackburn

I don't think Derek will take a lot of players to Bradford. Look how excited the squad was to have been promoted to League 1, for a lot of them it will be their first opportunity to shine in a new league. Maybe Toums will go down as he's had championship experience already but a fresh start in League 1 will be much appreciated for many of our players.
Sad that Lavelle, Stockton Mendes Gomes will leave without any transfer fees though. Some money coming in would have really helped us this year. i personally think Stockton, o sullivan and cooney are the three most important players on this team, followed by songoo, lavelle and nkp trailing behind but everyone is replaceable. Mendes Gomes is replaceable and gets lost in games with an organized and physical defense. I don't think he will do well in higher leagues but will be forever grateful for the integral part he played in getting us promoted. Stockton is by far our best striker, but I think AJ should be able to maintain 75% of his production in a more technical league one division. Our lineup of harry davis and nkp worked well in the beginning of the year so while lavelle may be first choice it shouldn't be a huge blow.
o sullivan provides so much energy on offense and defense and will be hard to replace at his price point.
cooney is solid every game on the right, also cheap as a loanee.
Stockton was a key player in dereks system and our most important one in the system, but the new manager may not make him the focal point.

Sam & Carlos are both contracted, so big fees if they move.

No, Lavelle and CMG won't leave without transfer fees. Lavelle is still under contract and CMG has extension in his current contract. Carlos will do fantastic in higher leagues, arguably most gifted player we've ever had.
AJ can't mantain 25% of games in League 2 never mind League 1.

I think CMG has shown this season that he'd do ok at a higher level. He's smart tactically and most of his goals come from clever movement rather than rinsing lumpy L2 defenders. Also he's superb defensively and tracks back well - I reckon higher level managers will love that given the pressing demands of most teams nowadays.

Agree with all of that. A-Jay is hopeless, Carlos will flourish, since Sam has been back in the team we’ve gone from a bottom half defensive record to a top-half record with him in - completely disagree with basically everything in the original post from vt

Lamine Kaba Sherif – Released by: Accrington Stanley, Potential destination: Morecambe
We start this list with a player that I think can really be an exciting addition for a manager looking to put their trust and time into developing a player and giving them the platform to realise their potential. Kaba Sherif is only 22 years of age, and has a good pedigree having coming through the youth system with Leicester City. He is someone with real pace and energy, and has the ability to really stretch teams in running in behind and exploiting space behind the opposition defence, and while still a little youthful and rough round the edges, I think that there is a real player in there if given the luxury of a development year. With Carlos Mendes Gomes the main man for The Shrimps
Just seen this on a football website called Off the line
