So that will be 3 experienced centre backs we have on the books with a further one probably to gain experience.

Is this signing an indication that either we are going to play a 3 4 3 formation OR is Sam on his way as some have predicted some time ago.possibly to his home town club Blackpool... :?: :?: :?:

The squad is coming together nicely but for me we need a midfield enforcer similar to Yan or is that NOT what our new manager feels we need.... :?: :?: :?:

Another striker would be good as would the signing of Liam and the loan of the lad from Rangers.

This guy looks like he might bring some experience that we need he was also captain at Bradford for a while, wonder why they let him go.

I make that 4 CB's now if we get the young CB from Blackburn as well so that's one for each spot as long as Lavelle stays.

I agree we need another central midfielder, probably another full back as cover and another striker unless he has high hopes for Price.

Someone on twitter said his wages were too high at Bradford :shock: and that's why they let him go,what on earth have we offered him then :o

Has he and colleague Connor Wood been made scapegoats by Bratford after season after season of failure.

I just hope that DA fails to get them promotion...I've never liked that lot. They seem always to think that they are better than the rest,,,results prove differently... :!: :!: :!:

Completely agree on midfield ball winner and a striker. Then I’d be very happy with the squad. If Carlos moves on then hopefully McPake covers that off

Very good signing this! Has generally been a pretty good player for Bradford. Played very well at right back last season - so will be handy to have to cover a few positions (RB, CB, CDM).

Assuming you are right then he must have taken a huge pay cut.

As for affordability....DA had a squad of 22 players all on reasonable money I would assume. SR intends to have a squad of circa 18 plus 4 made up from the Academy. By my schoolboy calculation that means we are 4 short on DA's and therefore 4 light on a squad pay packet.( Academy players probably earn only a fraction of a first team squad player I would expect). Let's assume that that equates to £4000 then that extra money plus a wee bit more in the budget would be sufficient to offer more to both existing and new players depending on their ability and requirements.

You should know me by now that I assume an awful lot and sometimes I do get it probably right.

Another factor to take into consideration is that OUR club probably get more financial assistance in terms of sponsorship etc by being an EFL1 club.....but then I'm assuming that that is correct... :lol: :lol: :lol:

How do they get the info for the salary website, I would imagine a lot of ours around the £1k mark is correct but Yan on £300 per week I doubt it! Lavelle needs to be asking for a payrise as well.

Could be wrong but think I've just seen O'Conner filling up at Sainsburys in a nice BMW...all set for a drive back to his home at Leeds.

No doubt in due course he and Tooms (based in Harrogate) will form a new car club and travel together.

More signings incoming tomorrow. However also heard from a couple of people that a deal has been done for Carlos to depart. Social media seems to suggest it’s likely to be Luton

Interesting times.
If Carlos goes to Luton, fair play and good luck, he has done his bit on the field to help us get to where we are, he owes us nothing. 500k with a 25% sell on, or 750k with a 10% anyone?

I always thought he would be on Peterborough's radar with the transfer strategy they have successfully implemented in recent years. Luton is a strange one, can't see them having any impact on the league and the Manager was chased out of Stoke City but their money is as good as anyones.

Echo what Freez has said. A very unassuming and humble footballer who has done it the hard way. Deserves a shot at a high level and no doubt he will shine.

If we really didn’t rate him and thought he wouldn’t improve, or we were in dire financial straights, then it would be the latter option all day long. But from the noises out of the club, it seems we are in a stable position and don’t need that extra 250k, at least at the current moment.

After all, if Luton sold him on for more than a million, we’d bridge that 250k gap, albeit there’s always inflation to take into account!
