Transfer window PLUS details of £500K transfer of defender

Let's hope that our 2 prized assets Cole and Sam remain with us for the rest of this season.
We know that Wycombe would like to take Sam and that Rotherham are interested in Cole but as neither of them would see a step up in terms of which league they would play in, the only reason for them to be interested is in the wages available.
Both are crucial parts to SR's plans and for either to move would be a blow but money does talk....
Bristol City having already bought Tanner from Carlisle are now reported to be interested in a striker at Stanley who Stanley rate in the £700K bracket...
Blackburn agree fee for Lincoln defender who like Sam is in his final year of his contract. Just another example of the 'true' value of Sam....anything less that £500K would be ridiculous.

Hopefully neither will leave this late in the window - as SR has said, the board have backed him thus far so there shouldn’t be any outgoings.
On comparing the Lincoln defender Tayo Edun to Sam, this is a loose comparison. Edun is a left back who is versatile enough to also be competent at DM and LM, he’s nearly 2 years younger than Sam, he’s coming off the back of an impressive ‘break-out’ full season in L1 and he has prior Championship experience. That combination, coupled with the fact that finding good left backs is relatively tough, means he’s worth a significant amount more than Sam in the current market, although you’d expect we’d demand more for him considering how late we are in the window.
Hard to put a price on Cole considering deadline day is tomorrow and he’s so important to us.
Carlisle did an amazing job to sign Tanner on a two-year deal. But if Tanner’s worth that much at L2 level, how much is Cooney worth?! Our club has done an amazing job to sign Ryan up for two years!

id take £500.000 for Sammy seeing we've Delaney and now Wootten to play alongside O'Conner.

just hope there's time to bring in a replacement, or somebody half decent unattached still without a club you can bring in anytime.

https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/wigan ... or-24-y-o/Wigan pay £500K for 24 year old central defender....
Another example of a defender going for £500K and we appear to want only £200K for an accomplished EFL defender.......

Good move for him, he'd be losing game time here with the new lads shaping up so well.

seems daft selling him, we've got no natural cover for Cooney now, 2 players for every position and all that.

He's gone for free, I was always surprised we offered him a deal in the summer.

Good luck Kelvin
Cooney is only 1 booking off a suspension so who covers that position

Good luck to Mellor at Carlisle! Wasn't ever going to get much game time here, so probably a fair option all round to have him off the wage bill and give him the chance to play regular football.
Had a good season barring Bolton and played a relatively prominent role in our promotion winning side.
No direct cover at RB now which is the only minor concern, although O'Connor played most of last season there for Bradford and McLoughlin spent a lot of his time at Wimbledon playing RWB, so we have players capable of filling in.

A good bit of business that by Carlisle.
Sell Tanner for an excellent pot and get a good and experienced EFL1 player as replacement for nowt.....
As for cover we've got a couple of players who could step into the position if called to do so.

Isn't one of the young lads who trained with the senior team a RB?
Mellor looked very wooden and out of his depth this season when he featured.

Surely this must have been known about in the background. So Steve Robbo must have somebody lined up to come in, and with the longer break whoever it is will be able to get in and gell into the squad.

It's looking like Sam is on his way to Charlton, very sad if true £200,000 is the price quoted..

The quote says “over £200k” which i presume is just over, which if true is undervalued in my opinion . So potentially 2 out ,none in or is there something up Stevens sleeve although it didn’t sound like it in his interview !

£200k would be a bargain for Charlton if that is true.

We may never know Keith , we seem secretive “undisclosed fee” where money is concerned

I see Colby Bishop at Accy was all set to sign for Peterborough but Coleman stopped it as I don't think Peterborough matched their asking price. Player was wanting to go as it was nearer home for him and a lot more money but Coley still said no.
Is this the accy player you were on about redrobo?

Two defenders out in such a short time. Is this going to be an opportunity for a younger lad to step up and take advantage to prove what he's worth with the slightly longer break ?
