https://www.footballinsider247.com/char ... r-medical/Looks as though it's down to Sam to agree terms.
For me our club have undervalued Sam.
If £200K+ is the agreed fee then Charlton have got a bargain when looking at what other clubs are paying for a central defender.
Just hope that Sam rejects the terms and stays at home.....

Medical set to go ahead at Charlton. SR didn’t turn his phone off long enough!

I'm wondering if SR was ever that bothered about Sam or always thought he was going to leave so had already prepared for it. In some of the friendlies Sam didn't feature and O'connor was captain is O'connor more SRs man?
Sometimes in games I see O'connor having a bit of ago at Sam a bit like Sam used to do to KNP, or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

If Sam does leave then we move on
Yes it will be a big loss but players come and go
We still have O'Connor, Wooton and Delaney
In Robbo we trust

Your first point is very interesting - I wonder if Sam was destined to leave much earlier in the window and SR knew that. Then the Wycombe deal falls through and Sam ends up staying, hence his social media posts saying he’s ready for our season. O’Connor and Delaney look like they have enough to form a solid partnership that could keep us up, whether it materialises or not, only time will tell!

Sam is good, in fact very good. However he is not the be all and end all. He has made it clear that he will be leaving us in just a few short months and at that point we will receive the square root of nothing for him, squat diddly. At the end of the day we are a business, now thankfully run by several quality businessmen. I say take the money and move on. As stated we have cover, so now is the time for Wooton to step forward and fill the hole Sam will leave

Can't blame him for leaving to try and prove himself at an ex premier League club. Can see him returning though at some point. All the best Sam

Best result all round. Sam gets a very good move and we get 200k for a lad with 10months left on his contract.
Good luck Sam, helped us achieve the unachievable

https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2021/a ... -athletic/Frustrating that we are always so coy about transfer fees. Ah well, thanks Sam, and good luck, except when you play us.

Thanks Sam for some happy memories. Will miss seeing you run out as the club's captain but all good things have to come to an end.
Still feel that the club undervalued the sale but time to move on and open another chapter.
Surprised that in the end it's a move to a London club as no North West or Midland based club appeared interested but I'm sure the southerners will take to him as we have over the past 4 seasons.
Best of luck and he'll always be welcome at HIS club whatever the result on the day.
Such a pity that he has to move to an EFL1 club and not the Championship. Blackpool would have been ideal.

Hi @RedRobo: The BoD, Owners and management were all very satisfied with the terms of the SL transfer. It was not undervalued, but it was undisclosed. We have come out of the transfer window with an excellent squad and strong funds from two major sales. We wish Sam and Carlos all the very best. Top priority continues to be the development of academy and first team players and signing them up on longer contracts. This will I allow us to have a long term revenue stream as part of the 3YP and beyond to make us sustainable, profitable and competitive in League One and higher in the future. We would never sell ourselves short, please rest assured. Thanks for your support. Regards CA. UTS

As I said earlier we are now being run by men who understand business and how to get the most out of what we have. If we ran it on sentiment alone then we can probably chart a course straight back to the National league! In football to run a successful club head must usually rule heart and in this case I feel it has. Well done to all concerned.

Sam was a top solid defender. But was he really THAT good? I'm not going to start a war but I think we have had two better centre halves in the last 10 years. Sam would be in the championship if he hadn't found his level. Blackburn may have even realised potential and kept him. No disrespect but I wouldn't loose too much sleep with Sam going. He's a great human and a good footballer as this level but there is better people suited to our new style team. Just feel this is more emotional due to last year at him being club captain. All the best to him, he deserves it but I for one would not be surprised if he remains at this level.
Great business by the club, we could easily have just simply said - no!
