O'Connor

A captain should lead by example and provide verbal communication to his fellow defenders and midfield operatives.
It's was said in a previous thread that he was quick to have a pop at Sam and on the very rare occasion when he actually said any thing yesterday it was to have another pop at a colleague this time being Delaney.
SR has been superb in attracting some outstanding talent but his selection of O'Conner as Club Captain I'm afraid for me is wrong as he does not communicate and appears to blame everybody else for mistakes and at times looked totally disinterested in what was going on around him as he stood with his hands on his hips giving the impression not only to myself but a number around me that he is not of leadership material.
He was indecisive on too many occasions when given ball by the goalkeeper and appeared unsure what to do with it.
I just hope that SR acts quickly and selects Toums as the Captain going forward as he was providing encouragement to his colleagues throughout the game and showed the leadership qualities that we have become familiar with from the now departed Sam.
Tuesday is the ideal time to introduce the experienced Wootton and Jacob Mensah who was named one of the best young players in non league in 2019 into the back line because on the evidence of yesterday we have serious problems in the centre of our defense from both O'Conner and Delaney.
In was good to see that both Sam and Carlos made their debuts for their new clubs yesterday
