I think the big mistake was batting to long yesterday. 500 was never going to be needed 430-440 would have given us an extra hour bowling at them yesterday. On that pitch with 2 bowlers not feeling 100% enforcing the follow-on i think would have played into there hands.

I don't know about that,could the bowlers have carried on ! and got them out again? or at least kept the score to gettable ?.
For once I had to agree with "Aunt Bessie" Boycott,who said Strauss was right not to force the follow on to rest the bowlers.

Great test match, much better than the usual tripe we get served up in the Windies. Good game between two evenly matched sides.

I think Strauss got everything pretty much spot on, apart from not selecting a second spinner. He is just unfortunate that the Windies have discovered a backbone from somewhere. You've got to give it to them, they've pretty much batted five sessions under pressure on an undercooked pitch. For once the rain may have actually cost England (instead of saving) with the late start this morning.
