Cole Stockton's Play off final shirt to be auctioned

See Twitter for details of how to bid for our Cole's Play off final shirt that he has put up for auction for charity.

Nice one Cole and a true gent thinking of children less fortunate than some this Christmas time.

For anybody that is not already aware, following a suggestion by Paul Hodgson on the Morecambe FC Fans Page (Facebook), Morecambe fans are looking to raise enough money to make a bid for this item. If this is successful the shirt will be framed and donated back to Cole.

Joanna Wilkinson (Shrimps Trust chair) has set up a Go Fund Me page to facilitate the collection of donations in order to be able to bid. The fund now exceeds £300 having been set up this morning. If you would like to contribute, follow the link:

Go Fund Me: Cole Stockton Alder Hey Auction

It is a brilliant gesture by Cole to donate his match worn Wembley shirt for fundraising towards Alder Hey Children's Hospital, a cause close to his heart after he revealed he spent time there as a child. It is equally touching to learn that the shirt means a lot to him - something that he worked extremely hard to attain, which he deserves to cherish forever.

It would be great if we could come together as a collective group of supporters and win this item to demonstrate the respect and appreciation that we have for Cole - in addition to supporting the Hospital itself.

Fund has now reached £575 - fantastic effort in a short period of time. Well done to everybody that has contributed so far. There is still time to participate.

As Paul Hodgson has highlighted on the Fans Page, given the recent negative press that has been attributed to Morecambe Fans due to the actions of a minority it's worth noting just some of the fan lead activities - primarily driven by the Shrimps Trust (growing membership approaching 700 btw).

Ticket for Morecambe Supporters In Need - Go Fund Me campaign that raised over £2k towards season tickets. These are distributed weekly to different organisations and families facing financial hardship, so that they have the opportunity to attend games and do not feel excluded from our community lead club.

Memorial Supporters Match for Christain Mbulu between Morecambe and Motherwell fans, organised by Nicky Clarke.

Collections for Lancashire Mind + Morecambe Bay Foodbank (£250 each).

Annual Toy Appeal in aid of children spending time in RLI this festive period, in addition to families in the locality that are struggling financially.

Poppy Wreath laid in honour for our fallen as part of the clubs remembrance service, impeccably lead by serviceman Jason Towson who has been instrumental alongside the club director James Wakefield in the club signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

Foodbank Collection vs. Fleetwood this coming Saturday - please support this if you can MFC Website: Shrimps Foodbank

The club is right to highlight the behavior of a few individuals through recent statements, but equally we should sing from the roof tops about all the positive aspects that demonstrate what being a Morecambe supporter is about. We are not very good at this!

* The above examples are just a selection of the fan lead projects that I am aware of, it does not include any of the excellent work that goes on as part of MFC Community Sports.

If this doesn't show what a great club MFC is then I really don't know what will. Our leading goalscorer puts a VERY important shirt up for auction to raise money for Alder Hey, and supporters (knowing how much he would love to keep that shirt) have put together a bid of over £1000 and intend that money to go to Alder Hey and to then frame the shirt and hand it back to Cole Stockton for him to keep. Fabulous and COULD be a huge factor affecting whether we keep Cole or not. But even if we don't, there is a huge feel good factor around this. Well done to all.

I see from the Club's website, that £1500 was raised for the shirt and a cheque for that amount presented to Cole Stockton for him to give to Alder Hey. Brilliant effort all round. Is the second part of the plan (to frame the shirt and then present that back to Cole Stockton), still happening as well?
