Saw this via Facebook, on Twitter. Our own 'Captain Sparkle' posted...

Great picture! I think it's perhaps too high for the Cyclone & definitely rabbit Hill. Also, I think , more likely to be 80s, Dixieland has gone & be replaced by Jonnys & the area round Rabbit Hill has been "developed" into a car park.

...but what does he know? ;)

I'm wondering if it was from the top of the Astroglide? If not, then it has to be the 'world's biggest' Ferris Wheel, that needed planning permission because it was a 'permanent structure', so the owners took it down in a weekend and shipped it to America, but that doesn't feel right for the angle.

Regardless, a great photo from an unusual angle. I used to deliver newspapers and part of my route took me down South Road. I'd see those trains arriving daily during the summer months, packed with tourists.

If you click on the photo, you can view it full size.

Oh Keith, you are a card!
Looks like it was taken from a very high vantage point to me, but I had forgotten about that new fangled big wheel thing!
Nowadays I'd say, without a doubt, taken from a drone.
Also, some of you may recognise the EE 4, class 40 at the head of an excursion from God knows where, something our new micro station doesn't allow any more.

Something else railway related, when the power stations close in a few years, after decommissioning, will the Heysham branch line remain? for a "boat train" once a day, with hardly any one on it, that's replaced by a bus quite frequently?
maybe we need to revisit that "light" railway plan, with halts at places such as the Mossgate Park , Blackberry Hall, Albert Road etc, before it's too late.

I think we should have built a stop at the ground when it was being built, so fans could easily have got to/from games. Still think that was a missed opportunity.

The Cable Cars over the road ride opened in 1989 as I had to pay Annabel Croft £3,000 to open it when I worked as Accountant at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Not my cheque book fortunately.

She came with her sister and travelled up by pure coincidence from Wimbledon , Dad was an oil company executive. They were both about 5 ft 10 tall and had micro skirts on. She had wanted another £250 fee for wearing the tracksuit that she wore in "Treasure Hunt" but we declined that and she still wore it !

The year before that we opened the Crazy Horse Saloon and "Red Rum" came to do the honours and only cost £550 !
