Punishment

If the EFL decide to investigate today's shambles I worry that if they decide to punish BOTH clubs then any resulting points deduction could be the end of our journey in EFL 1 thanks in my opinion to the antics of the Bolton manager and a minority of Bolton fans who choose to throw objects at our goalkeeper.

It may not come to that but I think we have to be ready for the EFL take some action which could have disastrous consequences for our club.

They won’t be deducting points for one racist incident (if proven right). Unfortunately it’s far too rife in the game there would be teams losing points weekly. Thankfully also there’s no history of it here.

Fines most likely. In punishment terms Bolton are actually more likely to kop for invading the pitch

What better time for the Football League to initiate points deductions for racial abuse than imposing them on 'little Morecambe' who no-one outside the town will be bothered about?

Redrobo you are already talking about possible punishment for our club as I understand it for alleged racial abuse of and spitting at Bolton players, the very serious complaints having been made by Mr Evatt. However as I understand it don’t you sit in the immediate location (C Prem) where this allegedly took place. Others in that vicinity have expressed amazement at the allegations saying it definitely didn’t happen. However you make no reference to the incidents at all and have fast forwarded to punishments. Apologies if you weren’t near the alleged incidents but if you were there did it happen as per Mr Evatts version or not? You could be a potential valuable witness.

There is clearly a horrible problem in the game that needs dealing with but again I think you need to look at the bigger picture rather than worrying that we’ll be a victim of this.

Players found guilty don’t even get their clubs’ points deducted when they are charged! Also making us an example and deducting points would set a very dangerous precedent .. there would be racists turning up at other teams’ grounds and all sorts to try and lose them points.

It’s an awful situation and not one I envy trying to solve but I just can’t see how deducting points in this instance would be realistic or fair.

Anyway probably best to let the authorities investigate. If the comments on here are true we hopefully shouldn’t have an issue

As has already been mentioned, an investigation into verbal abuse is underway, so who gets punished if at all we have to wait and see. But surely the pitch invasion has to be punished by some form of another. I personally don't know what the standard punishment is for this.

I think we as a club will get punished for failing to control the crowd.

Hopefully CCTV in the ground will lead to a few banning orders for their mob.

Unfortunately I think you are probably right BUT I suspect the punishment dealt out will have the intention of acting as a warning to others which could have the opposite effect and encourage action by a mindless minority to inflict punishment on clubs who for whatever reason they do not like.

Incidents at Rotherham, Wimbledon and Southport yesterday.
