Evidently he’s had a good season , behind a poor defence, saw him up at Barrow and he made 2/3 great saves to ensure they won the game, evidently a couple of clubs with interest in him, although that does not mean that I am saying that Morecambe are.

If he looks at our 88 goals conceded he might think he's jumping out of the fat into the fire !

We have also been linked with centre half Paul Huntingdon who has just left PNE.

I don't think its likely with him being nearly 35 and Carlisle is a more suitable destination with him being from there.

If true, I presume to be back up to Smith as Rory has only played a handful of games at this level. One thing we mustn't do this season is scrimp on goalkeepers, we threw away so many points last season due to both keepers not being good enough for this level.

Completely agree, Carson made a big difference when he arrived. You look back now, his performance against Oxford United alone has kept us in the division. We will forever be indebted to him.

No disrespect to Letheren or Jokull - but both were not up the the level/quite ready to be playing League One week in week out. Its actually been a problem since Roche retired IMO - we need a long-term solution to this pivotal role.

I actually sympathise with Robbo, and there are very few instances that I do, because clearly he was so dependent/influenced by the opinion of those already at the club when he opted to retain Letheren and bring back Jokull, rather than signing his own man from day one. In a results based business, its also probably a decision that impacts the Shrimps careers of other players that are now deemed surplus to requirements; I wonder how differently we'd think about certain players if we had a few more points on the board? Overall I think we should have easily reached 50 points - and but for some gaffs early on in the season (Wycombe A, Wimbeldon H spring to mind) I think we would have done.

It wont be a decision Derek will make IMO - he retired Roche, and also moved on quickly from Newcastle loanee Turner when the data suggested he was not up to scratch.... the error vs Solihull in the FA Cup was his final act. Ruthless.

On the bench today! Has he been playing regularly for the first team? If so he might be on the bench to prevent injury before the transfer?

On the Scunny fans forum he gets a mixed reception. Some say he's ok others feel the opposite.

Would provide some experience and leadership to maybe a youbger central partner but he's 35 so matbe too old for DA to be in his plans.

According to soccer stats never played a single minute this season. 35 years old and now lives 2 hours away.

No chance!

Scunthorpe fans think he's coming to us. He's been released/refused a new contract with Scunthorpe. From what I've seen, some fans think their season would have been far more disastrous had it not been for Watson. He certainly got plenty of practice last season.

Can you imagine if we do sign Watson? Obviously you'd think he'd be relived to be getting the chance to play at a higher level with better players - rather than be retained by a non-league club following a disastrous season with The Iron. Picture the scene on day one at the Shrimps ("Day One at the Big Brother Howse pet").... up walks a tall, dark-haired, clumsy-looking Irishman:

"Top of the morning to you, my name is Ryan Delaney - centre-back for the Shrimps, welcome to Morecambe Football Club"

"FFS - not you again"

Which game was that? We beat them in the League Cup and drew in the League at Holker Street and then beat them at Glanford Park.

Mixed reviews on the[*] Scunny forum.

Not sure about him to be honest but we have to trust DA's assessment of the guy if the rumours are true about him signing for us.

Letheren and Andrésson both seemed like pretty capable league 2 keepers but both got massively found out in league 1.

Signing the keeper that conceded 90 goals for the team that I think posted the worst ever league 2 points total doesn't fill me with confidence. Ok fair enough it sounds like it wasn't all his fault and maybe he actually did well to limit the damage a bit but still not sure about this one.

That said, I trust in Derek.

I don’t think they did to be honest. Yes Jokull kept two clean sheets during his two games on loan, making some great saves - but I did notice these were often as a result of him palming the ball back into the danger area.

Despite his heroics/good fortune at Wembley, I was less than convinced with Kyle too. Was solid enough from corners, could command his box, and had a good kick on him… but he was slow to react and also seemed to drop the ball a lot. There’s a fine dividing line between ‘cushioning’ the ball and regathering (as the comms team would often highlight)… and being a bit of a butterfingers.

It’s key that we bring somebody in that can compete with Smith - who looked ok vs Ipswich.

I'm with you on this assessment. Andrésson has great potential, but not League One standard yet.

i remember York City fans saying we were mad signing Kyle Letheren saying that he wont be good enough for L2, they were right, i said before the start of the L1 season we need a better keeper and it proved so.

Kyle didn't help himself, he was the size of a Bus last season.
