Tyson Fury and the unused pitches

I'd like to think that our BoD are making attempts to agree a deal with Tyson for us to make use of the unused pitches behind the Berlin Wall. At the moment they are being neglected and as we know to upgrade them will cost a bob or two BUT we desperately need our own training base and it seems logical that the unused pitches could be the ideal solution.

Remove all the sectional fencing and you have one large area to make a perfect all year round training base albeit on artificial grass ...... :?: :?: :?:

It all looks very neglected and hard to see what use any of it is to Tyson.

Maybe next time we have a fans forum someone could ask if any contact has been made with Tyson. Does he use the gym ?

Looked up from pitchside and seen him on his crosstrainer by the window once or twice last season. But if he's serious about retiring who knows how much he'd need a gym there.

I believe the club get tangled up with Lawyers and hangers on when they try and get in touch with Tyson. I asked the question and it was explained to me that the club don't need any more 4g pitches as we can use the LMC and Uni. Converting the pitches to grass pitches would cost too much. Makes sense.

Its a real shame that they aren't being utilised.

I hope now he's officially retired he'll invest in them and make available for the community (this is what he said when he bought them) and hopefully the club could also use for a fee.

The club really need to purchase the land that he owns adjoining the open terrace. That has no value to him and the club can't do anything with the open terrace without owning the land.

For any meaningful development of the Berlin Wall, we need more than the existing road - we need at least some of the artificial pitch land to relocate the access road and create a new concourse. What would be even better is to get all the artificial pitch land and use it as a car park to help ease the ever worsening parking problems around the stadium.

Blackpool have just purchased 100 acres of land to build a 7 pitch training ground.

He's going to Keiths home (town?).
I agree, surely it's a no-brainer, it's not as if he'd have much in the way of travelling expenses.

"Tyson Fury and the unused pitches" - good name for a band, that.

Why dont a small consortium of fans say , 5 supporters , get together , make him an offer and lease it back to the club?

That is of course, if they want to use it.

With his millions of hard earn money why would he want to lease something back to the club when it would be on no benefit to him financially due to his wealth already?

Far greater publicity and stature for him if he was to donate the land back to the club...

Do the club need 4g pitches that will be in a terrible state after years of not being used?

A very good question but one only the current manager can answer. If DA is happy with the current arrangements at the College and Uni then no problem BUT long term and if the club progress even further it has to be the aim of our club to own its own training ground.

I agree it would take a huge investment in getting the pitches now owned by Tyson back into shape but the cost would not be as high as if we had to start from scratch somewhere else and had to build changing facilities and other infrastructure let alone the cost of land purchase alone.

I suspect that our club have searched for land to develop within the area and around even as far back as the PMcG days but with little success.

Under Jimmy Harvey they had hoped to develop the land used by Middleton FC but the drainage problem alone was I understand a no no.

Unless some significant investment by a yet to be determined individual or individuals is forthcoming I can't see how the development of our own new training base can happen.

So for me the only logical financial option is to seek an agreement with Tyson and when finances allow redevelop the area already within the vicinity of our club.

something isn't between Tyson. Fury and Morecambe FC.

Tyson Fury likes Morecambe and makes it known.

Tyson Fury likes being charitable and makes it known.

Tyson Fury likes Football and makes it known and even went to Euro 2018 and supported all the home nations.

just doesn't add up, despite MFC saying otherwise at Q&A nights

A training ground would be much more than a couple of 4g pitches. The club buying the land and converting it from synthetic to grass would be the only progressive solution. Can't see that being cheap though.

That's what I suggested regarding the cost of a new training ground being significantly more expensive than new 4G pitches on Tyson's property.....on that we can agree.

:)

You couldn't build a training ground on that land. For the land to be of any use to the club, the 4g needs ripping up and a couple of grass pitches being laid. The grass pitches would need draining etc. We don't need our own 4g pitches when we can use others.

Maybe that's why the club are advertising for another full time groundsman unless Chesh has completely retired.

Spending more than the lands worth refurbishing something the club doesn't need is pointless, the building and land behind the concourse however would be a good purchase if a new stand was needed , the pitches could be used for matchday parking , generating more income.

I think everyone is missing something here.

How many kids are missing out on those pitches? The main use of those pitches were from schools tournaments and kids Sunday league, as well as the 'Academy'. Where do they all go now?

The stupid positioning of the building on the Berlin Wall prevents any worthwhile stand development on that side due to the restricted viewing that it would have. The only solution would be to demolish that obstructing building but that will never happen unless some future investors can make Tyson an offer to provide him with a new gym for his boxing academy.

However any redevelopment on that side is highly unlikely..... :?: :?: :?:

What utter tripe!

The building is set back and is only two stories. There is terracing in front of it too.

The only option? There are loads of options if there was to be the need.

Fortunately we have a Board who are broad of thinking.

Mate, been looking on here for a while now and you do talk some bollocks!
