Pre season update

In previous pre seasons I've posted updates as to how the squad is preparing for the forth coming season.
Sorry but this season I'm no longer able to do it so everybody who is interested will have to rely on the club's media department for updates which hopefully will include both video and photo info as it did last pre season when it was based at the Uni.

In the videos of pre season to date it looks as though the significant player not their is Arthur Gnahoua who for me improved under the management of DA and will be a big loss if he has left the club.
Looks as though there are 19 currently involved which would mean a further 5 (ooops 4
) to come in if DA wants a squad of 23. No doubt some will be loanees as was suggested by our Recruitment Manager in a previous interview.
Training is at the University of Cumbria (formerly St Martins College ) in Lancaster which we used during Jimbos tenure but the centre has improved and is a vast improvement of what it was like then.
It also looks as though we have got a new Conditioning / Fitness Coach who has taken over for Chris Squirrel our former C/F Coach. No confirmation to date...
Interesting few days / weeks to come.

19 involved plus 5 more is 24 (not 23 as quoted Neil)
Maybe you need to use your abacus properly lol

I can only get to 17 players on the picture!
24 in total, John McMahon, 2 college staff and 2 MFC staff

We don’t seem to be getting many training ground sessions filmed this season

I'm wondering if the media guys are off at the moment I saw a pic of Ryan in a leg brace and Matt has just become a dad.

Latest up date now on OWS and looks as though O'Connor was absent.
Still low on numbers but maybe some new signings imminent....and could be on trial tomorrow in the first pre season game....hopefully....

Duffus and Pye also highlighted as missing on Twitter. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've seen either yet at all. Duffus was spotted in the crowd at Wimbledon when his partner Watson was playing.

O'Connor in the gym today apparently, hence not training with the rest of the squad - probably has a niggle.
Interesting to see who is on the field tomorrow evening. Heard a rumour that we have paid a transfer fee for somebody - possibly the first since Jason Oswell... which even then was just a nominal fee I believe.

Was loaned to Stockport at the end of March. Only managed one 71 minute appearance for them and doesn't look like he ever made the squad again, not even the bench. Struggling to see the reasoning behind that one. Hopefully they took over his wages at least.

Didn't we pay a fee for Ayunga?
I hope your source is better than mine, 6pm came and went.

I think Ayunga was "undisclosed fee" so yes, getting worried about our lack of signings, first pre season game tomorrow and we are looking very short in some areas, would be nice if the board could let us know when there was going to be activity on this front?

Not that you can trust him as far as you can throw him, but Stephen Robinson advised that there wasn’t a fee involved with the Ayunga transfer to Morecambe from Bristol Rovers, even though it was reported as ‘undisclosed’ on the club website. He addressed this at the fans Q&A ahead of the last campaign.
We’ve surely signed more than what’s been announced to date. Interesting to see who is involved tomorrow.

Not sure clubs in League 1 should be having players on trial for pre season but that's just my opinion

I agree with you Lancaster Shrimp. We have moved on from the non league friendlies when we would field numerous trialists. It was always exciting to see these unknown to us footballers during the summer games. I remember Phil Eastwood and Neil Hardy looking good in their first game and ex Man Utd Simon Davies not doing enough for a contact. Surely we should be looking at signing established professional footballers now we are a L1 club rather than casting a wide net hoping to find one or two decent semi pros like the old days.
