Can never keep these cups straight. Apparently this is the one where we only get audio streams, which doesn't do me much good with the meeting I'll be in during the entire match, darn.

Means I'll be checking in here regularly.

Excellent first half against a strong Stoke. We restricted them to one half reasonable chance while we've had a couple of opportunities, but nothing on target. They look good on set pieces.

More of the same in the second half.

Fantastic to hear. Hope we can maintain that.

What are the rules for draws at this point in the cup? I feel like it goes straight to pens?

Does this mean he's suspended Saturday? Or does it just count in cups?

From what I remember, yes, because I believe the governing body is the same.

Crowd 2806 ???
Thought there was more than that
Awful refereeing tonight
all their niggling little fouls and not one player booked,
he lost it, played to the bigger team

When was the last time a Morecambe side scored all five penalties in the shootout?

Really put bodies on the line, battled for everything. Had a little bit of good luck, when they hit the post, but over-all, we deserved that, despite the ref doing his best to play to the big side.

The sending off was a disgrace - the first booking wasn’t even a foul, let alone a yellow, and the second wasn’t a booking either. So many cards for our players and none for Stoke, who were equally culpable in terms of fouls. The ref only seemed interested in punishing us and helping them.

I thought we matched Stoke right up until the sending off. We still have to improve in the final third but we defended very well and it was a gutsy performance. A well deserved win in the end, and some great penalties.

Stoke had to bring on their 'big guns' but even with only ten men they couldn't get a result.

That must be the coolest of penalties I've seen for some time.

Each and everyone took their time and made sure their goalkeeper went the wrong way.

Expected Smith to take over but DA remained with Ripley even though Smith did a warm up just before the end of the 90.

Not sure about the crowd of only 2800. Looked a lot more from my seat . More like 3800. Stoke looked to bring circa 800.

The Guardian thought the sending off was 'harsh'.

League One Morecambe also progressed via a surprise result, beating Championship side Stoke 5-3 on penalties after the game at the Mazuma Stadium finished 0-0 after 90 minutes.

The victory was all the more memorable for Morecambe side as they were forced to play the final 28 minutes of the game with 10 men after midfielder Jensen Weir was harshly sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession.

Shane McLoughlin sealed the shootout win with Dylan Connolly, Jonathan Obika, Caleb Watts and Donald Love all scoring. Morgan Fox was the Stoke player who failed to hit the target.

What a performance and a very even contest until the Ref got excited and ruined it. Derek Adams is a fantastic Manager, he really knows how to get a team set up and tactically spot in. The effort that those lads put in last night was massive and deserves lots of credit.

Taylor is class and the way he pulled the ball out of the air in 2nd half was unreal. Fanè had a brilliant game and looks like he is back up to last seasons level. Hunter is a player but should have been sent off for a 2 footed lunge. The defence looks solid and horrible.

One query I've got from last night ......with 10 mins left and penalties approaching DA replaced Stockton with Obika. Does Cole ever take penalties?

Stockton has taken pens in the past, I must admit he isn't great at taking them with his record very hit and miss, so I can see why Obika was brought on, his pen was slotted in with ease, so good substitution in the end.

Agree with all of the above but a special word regarding Delaney. He isn't the same por excuse as a player as he was under Judas. DA must take credit in keeping his instructions to him spot on.

Only slight concern with DA is that we could be a wee bit more adventurous going forward BUT it's results that counts so if he gets the results by playing the way he prefers then who am I to question his methods.

Delaney was superb again last night. Rawson and Delaney either side of the more cultured Gibbo works really well. I don't think any Centre Forward will enjoy playing against our big lads this season. Derek has his defenders playing a more simple game rather than Robinsons champagne football which confused the hell out of them last season.
