I'm Sorry, It Was All My Fault, I Take Responsibility...

Second half had just kicked off, when I said...

"I think the ref's had a good first half"

...almost immediately afterwards, Melbourne gets wiped out after the ball had gone, which the ref missed, and he then completely imploded.

Seriously, I don't mind if a ref is poor, as long as they are consistently poor, and for both sides. Cole gets tripped on the edge of the area, no free-kick. But then Weir makes a great tackle, getting the ball cleanly, and it is a free-kick and booking? No complaints about the second yellow, but the first was wrong.

And was he (and the linesman) the only ones who didn't see a two handed shove in the penalty area?

If Stoke had half a dozen yellow cards too, then fair enough. But five yellow cards, with one red, for us, while none for them?

Dreadful official, thankfully we got the result we deserved. I hope the ref enjoys his lift home on the Stoke team bus!

So how did that work out then?

Derek pointed all this out and more to the 4th, then got a yellow for it.
They took a free kick about 7 yards from an incident and got away with it, we took one 2 yards away and he made us retake it, grrrr
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Michael O Neill saw the game different according to their website ...

Saying the red card was correct and we were very lucky not to get another two red cards as well (borderline apparently)

Ah well never mind the game is over now and they are out so maybe a few grapes of the sour variety coming out of the potteries

Did he mention the two handed shove on Cole in the penalty area, or, like the ref, did he miss that one?

DA went absolutely ape shit at the 4th official. Never heard him so animated before. Shows he cares a lot about his job and his boys.

Love it..... :D :D :D

Weir shouldn’t have even been booked - never mind sent off - and if the ref was officiating consistently then Stoke would have had three yellows and possibly a penalty to us.
