DA said on the post match Radio Lancs interview that Cole rang the club this morning to say he was ill and wouldn't be turning in today!
Based on that I guess he's on his way probably as early as next week.
A sensible sounding Fleetwood fan also rang in to say that Pilley Junior has been bragging to all and sundry today that Cole is as good as their player and he certainly seems to have convinced their fan base that this is going to happen. To me it seems to have more credence to it than a sad wind up attempt. They have sold some talent recently for decent money so quite probably have the funds available to first of all buy him from us and secondly give him the 'wonga' he is after to make a sideways move acceptable to him. It's a short career folks and as much as it will stick in the gullet if he does move to them he needs to capitalise on his talent asap.
UTS.

In Dereks interview he said Cole had phoned in sick ! , he also said the pot was dry , all funds are spent up maybe the connor pye money went into the buying of Jacob Bedeau !

Looks to me like Cole has been advised not to play and to pull a sicky. It stinks and it would be a sad ending to Coles time here. His Agent has probably been promising Cole a big move and pots of money but it seems like he might end up playing in front of 1500 cod heads. Can not begrudge anyone bettering themselves but it is like he is selling his soul out of desperation rather than ambition.

So the money that we get for Cole (if he goes) will be included in the pot for January's Transfer Window. Well possibly / maybe

I do hope if cole is going then the money is given to Derek to get a replacement. I honestly believe if we get a replacement say Quigley for instance it may be a good move for all involved..

let Cole do one, teams have sussed him out, i just hope we get a half decent price and then DA the man with the plan can move quickly and get Scott Quigley

If Cole doesn't want to stay then let him leave
If Fleetwood is his chosen club then good luck down grading your self
Enjoy the bigger salary in front of 1500 home fans every couple of weeks

Or, he may have been ill?

Or, Rotherham [for example] may have seen an actual bid, rejected, coming from Fleetwood and it motivated them to make a bid?

In the post match interviews, Derek said that Cole phoned in sick this morning but Arthur said “we don’t know what’s happening with that” (in response to Cole not being in the team).
Sounds like Cole is being sold and perhaps Arthur didn’t get the memo about Cole’s ‘illness’!

Well if Cole leaves for pastures new, I think we need a striker, on yesterdays show Obika is not a replacement, he was lacklustre never went looking for the ball, probs better playing Arthur as out and out striker

Obika doesn't work hard enough off the ball like pressing defenders into mistakes.

Funny how we see things differently. I thought Obika worked hard, isolated, in really difficult conditions, in what was his first 90 minute game for over a year. Give him a few games, [if needed].

I hear from a reliable source that Shrewsbury have now submitted a formal bid for Cole won’t be the asking price but interesting

Shrewsbury could be a possibilty regarding Cole as they are looking at selling Daniel Udoh according to their message boards
Will certainly be an interesting next two weeks before the window closes

I thought Obika did alright. Had some nice moments early on, but tired very quickly and looked like he was saving himself just to try and get through the 90 minutes. Couple of moments in the Fleetwood box he wasn't really ready to pounce - I think some have put that down to laziness but I think it's more being half a yard behind play through tiredness. Basically what you'd expect from a player who's had a big injury, not started regularly in over a year and in 30 degree heat for his first start of this season. I'd expect a bit more sharpness over the next few games.
Regardless of how good or bad Obika is though, if Stockton goes then we need another striker - just for cover at the very least.

I’m not sure about Obika. I don’t think he had a good game yesterday but I also don’t think the system helped him. If we do lose Cole then I think we either need a replacement who can play the lone striker role, or we need to find another way of playing that suits the players we’ve got.

I think we have to give Obika a chance to show us what he can do. Remember this was his first full 90 minutes in a highly competitive game in extreme conditions for over a year so he was pacing himself.
Whether he is the long term solution IF Cole decides to move on for money then only further games will tell. But DA is a very shrewd manager nad he will be fully aware of out need for a further striker and IF Quigley is the one earmarked then we are getting a player who gives defenders a nightmare and can mix the dirty stuff with a touch of undoubted skill.
At Barrow he was a beast who played all over the front and give defenders countless problems throughout 90 minutes.
Only time will tell if the rumours around Cole are true but some fell from conversations yesterday that he could struggle again at a new club....assuming that he moves on.
