Transfer window

Transfer window

Postby redrobo » Tue Aug 16, 2022 9:29 am

In an interview for the Lancaster Guardian, DA has said that he doubts that we will do anymore business in the current transfer window.

Shame really as I and others would have liked us to have been after Carlos on loan as Luton appear interested in seeing him go out on a season loan to an EFL1 club.

However it sounds as though without any further players leaving the squad that money is tight especially as costs for the club are increasing on a daily basis due to inflation and fuel increases I suspect.

DA said there will be one more signing before signing of Jacob Bedeau and then after that we'll have to move transfer listed players out in order to bring anymore in.

so next the thing we sell Wes McDonald, so surly that either free’s up a wage or it went on paying a transfer fee for Jacob Bedaeu ?

Probably have to agree on a financial settlement to get rid of Obika so maybe out of the question because any new player would cost money and possible signing on fee.

Have confidence in DA to get it sorted ASAP.

terminate by mutual consent means like free transfer so somebody takes him off us for nothing.

The key words there, "by mutual consent".

If they are on [say] £1,500 per week and a League Two club is interested in taking them at £1,000 per week, then we need to pay £500 for the rest of their contract and probably a bit more, to encourage the player to drop down a league.

Okay, slightly simplistic, but the point being, it costs us to let players go. If Cole's "illness" was to prevent him from ever playing for us again, and you let Obika go, we have no-one else to play up front, in the current system.

So how did that work out then?

Keith, your scenario is very near the mark, I would just add that under HMRC regulations if a players ( or any other profession) contract is unexpectedly severed, he would be entitled to the first £30000 of any settlement, free of tax and NI. So I would suggest that whatever the severance payment is, it would be under the £30,000, and also as the person is likely to receive it in a lump sum as opposed to being on staged payment dates so would be discounted. 46 weeks by £500.00 per week is £23,000, so you would hope to settle on about £17500.00 as if the player were to receive it as a wage, he would of course be subject to Tax and NI, which would be about 28% of the gross.

So we'd have to change the system as Obika is no substitute for Cole.

100% rather Connolly & Arthur play up top in a 5-3-2

cant be having Obika jogging around every game.

It is reported by our trust worthy reporter ( :?: ) that Fleetwood have increased their bid for Cole.

No figure is mentioned but probably just a derisory as the first.

Fleetwood and their nasty Chairman are playing games with us in the hope that it will create discontent in the camp which will transpire into poor on field performances.

They must be worried about us if that is the case..... :D :D :D :D :D

Our Directors aren’t mugs!! If It has to be Fleetwood (God forbid) then I’m sure they will insist on any fee upfront before he goes anywhere. It is common knowledge that Mr Pilley is on trial in the near future at Preston Crown...

[Edit: Not sure how much can be said about a trial at this point, more to the point, what may happen after a trial].
