O/T Southgate and Foden

Imo Gareth Southgate has always been a mediocre manager. He's a yes man and toes the party line and so is popular with the FA hierarchy. Sacked by Middlesborough he is now struggling with England, clearly uncertain what his best team is. It was obvious very early in the USA game that things were not right but he delayed making substitutions. When he did make them he avoided the obvious pick in Foden. A good manager would have changed the line up in the first half and brought Foden on to win the game. Not Southgate! Has something gone on between the manager and Foden? Why does the England manager seem so clueless? Why is he so dependant on a clearly unfit Kane? This squad in my opinion is good enough to win the World Cup. Sadly they won't because of poor management.

Cant agree .... Gareth has got England to the World Cup semi final and also the Euro final

This England team are not a patch on Brazil or France in my humble opinion

Don't think he is a bad manager but is over cautious at times and the case for Foden is an example of playing it safe and not being prepared to take a gamble.....not that playing Foden for me would be a gamble because he is the one of very few young players who can alter a game with class.

Always felt that the USA game was going to prove difficult and so it proved.

I suspect that the above final sentence will be deleted by our Forum Policeman... ;)

I hope Southgate picks his own team and doesn't buckle under the pressure from the press. I think our problem is bigger than Foden over Mount.

We have the players in my opinion. I wouldn't swap our attacking players for any other nations. I just think the manager sets up not to lose to often. Why he brought on Henderson before Foden on Friday explains this. As for Brazil? Neymar is an overrated crybaby.
