We have 18 games left this season and probably need at least another 18 points (1 point per game) to reach 45 points ... which might be enough for survival ????

Bolton (h) Sat Sat 4th Mar
Cambridge (a) Tues 7th Mar
Shrewsbury (a) Sat 11th Mar
Charlton (h) Tues 14th Mar
Oxford (h) Sat 18th Mar
Mk Dons (a) Sat 25th Mar
Barnsley (a) Sat 1st Apr
Plymouth (h) Fri 7th Apr
Portsmouth (a) Mon 10th Apr

That's a tough April! Let's hope we are somewhere near the needed points by the end of March.

Five wins and four draws might be enough. Let's say we only get a win and a couple of draws in April and May. So maybe the extra four wins will probably come against FGR, port Vale, fleetwood, Cambridge, charton, Oxford or mk dons.

We could be almost safe by the end of March. BUT Fleetwood, Milton Keynes & Cambridge are away from home. If we play the away games, the same as we've played at home recently, I'd fancy us to win all three. If we set up in those games, the way we've played away from home so far this season, we'll be lucky to get one point from the three games. MK Dons in particular, we've made them look like a Championship side when we've played them twice this season, even though they've struggled against most sides. In the League Cup, we didn't manage a shot on target.
If we can win those six games, then any more points picked up will be a bonus. Lose to the other relegation candidates and we will struggle. Each of those games we fail in, mean we're looking to beat tougher opposition elsewhere.
I'm quietly confident still. I didn't expect us to win yesterday, but the manner of the defeat was concerning, again. We need a response next Saturday.

I think you've summed it up nicely Keith. We need to be almost there by end of March....and finish it with a win at Exeter who, by then, will have nothing to play for!

We said the same last season. We ended up willing during a tough run-in. Ideally you want to be safe sooner but I will take a win at Exeter to be sure at this stage.

...
and again. We've dropped two points already, we really need to try and win against Port Vale. And you don't win, if you don't shoot. And you don't shoot if you don't attack.
Despite being second from bottom, it is still in our own hands.

While one point won't see us relegated, we really must get three points. Identifying '
other games' to pick up three points instead gets harder and harder. We've dropped one of the potentially winnable games against Forest Green already. Lose or draw on Tuesday, and we need to identify two more wins from the remaining games, to replace those two. I don't see where they would be?

This Wednesday night is big too.
Accrington Stanley v Bolton Wanderers. All Bolton on that night aren't we.

Go to extra time, then Acci lose on penalties, so knackered and upset! Ta.

Was nice to have your backing for the game on Wednesday, if only briefly.
Noted earlier today we have sold out our allocation at your Stadia for the 4th March, they were only on sale to Season ticket holders and only one each still sold out in about 30 minutes.
Sadly I will not be in attendance as have meetings down South either side of the weekend.
Hoping no extra time, league is the priority...

Got the 'must win' against Port Vale. Although I identified Fleetwood as another 'three point game' they've started to get their act together [unfortunately] so it will be a really tough game. I'd like us to get the three points, but a point won't be a bad result.

It's very tight and it's going to remain that way but it's doable.

Not only have "they got their act together" they have spent mega money this season. I know that there is the old Non league rivalry with Fleetwood but squad budget wise and facility wise, they are a million miles ahead of us. This isn't a par fixture anymore and if we get anything there it will be a huge result.

When I wrote the original '
where will we get the points' post, Fleetwood had won one, drawn one and lost six in their previous eight League matches. Since then, they've won four, drawn one and lost none. You are right, they're a big spending club (
didn't the lad from Scotland cost about £250,000?). Since the January window, they've gelled. shame we didn't play them in December!

We aren't playing this midweek but some fixtures that are of interest to us :-
Derby County v Cheltenham
Lincoln City v MK Dons
Could do with 2 home wins from those although Lincoln I think have an unbeaten home record but most of their home games have been draws.
Another game tomorrow is Portsmouth v Bolton Wanderers.
A nice long journey for Bolton which may help our cause on Saturday.

I think the bus might have to break down and them walk for it to alter our result

Pompy 3 Bolton 1 Quite a physical game , 2 yellows for Pompy and 4 yellows for Bolton.
Not sure if it makes our task harder on Saturday.
