Well, stopped off for a pint in a little village pub 5 miles outside Sheffield off the Woodhead pass, it was packed out at 5.15pm, all ales £3 a pint did the trick.
Then fish n chips in Outhington, next village on, fish a bit dry but chips very good.
Then a couple in the Owd Crown near Hillsborough, packed with Weds, but very welcoming, but of craic with the locals, who know Baz n Tina in Heysham with their dog Cookie? We didn’t know em but somebody might!! :D
Walked into the away end at Leppings Lane, lovely chat with the away faithfuls, Sabes, Phil H, Dave K, Mickey, Mark T, Kath Thompson etc etc. good banter and singing. Daft goal, Gibbo asleep, second had chance to clear but didn’t. Shaw had a good run and shot saved.
Would like to have seen Mayor and Mellon on, rather than swapping one for the other, but we kept the ball and Cole had a couple of half chances, the header he didn’t get hold of tbf.
This is the third time we have played Weds as equals, still find it very uplifting that we are at this level.
Disappointed with the result for sure, but it beats getting hammered at Horwich in the NPL  .
Not a bad night out. Ref was a Homer, all night. I didn’t used to think that, but second season in this division playing on front of big crowds at some places and the refs definitely give the soft decisions to the big boys. Their third proves it! Still, onwards and hopefully upwards.
2 home games upcoming, Up the Shrimps and don’t let the football spoil your day!
