Abba & Queen this Friday & Saturday

With good weather forecast this weekend, hopefully these two events will be well-supported and this will be a good revenue earner for the club, as well as St John's Hospice (£2.50 per ticket donated to them).

If you've been thinking about it, but undecided, or, simply forgotten it was on soon, now's a good time to buy tickets!

Hope everybody had a good time.

Any news of numbers of those attended... :?: :?: :?:

Queen tonight so another wonderful night to enjoy an excellent tribute band.

I'm reliably informed that there were, in the region of 1,200 there, with about 1,600 expected tonight. However, a lot of people enjoyed yesterday's concert so much, that they are now getting tickets for the Queen tribute this evening.

I was also told; "The club's organisation of everything was fantastic and went without a hitch".

With good weather set to hold out, it should be another good event tonight. Tickets still available apparently. Hopefully, that will help to pay the club wage bill for another month, but also, if the concerts are a success, we'll get to see more organised in the future, which is a win for everyone.

Something to take forward. Although we should aim higher than tribute nights. On a personal note a cannot stand ABBA and think Queen are the most overrated band of all time.
So neither night had any interest for me.
But it obviously works and further nights should be looked.into.

I would like us to re-visit the Jools Holland gig that was lost with the pandemic. The groundsman will be getting on with the pitch next week so I would think this time next year is about the only window we will have for concerts.

Queen the most overrated band ever? Probably the worst comment ever on Shrimpsvoices.

That's the joy of music, each to their own. I'm sure people will not like half the bands that I do.
Other than Fat Bottomed Girls and Innuendo I personally think Queen as bland as a Chicken Kiev.

But again that is the joy of music.

A great night, probably 1,000 on the pitch mid session, 2000+ in total.

Sounds like a good night had by all.

Well done to OUR club for an excellent couple of nights hard work.

Now for next year.....

Lytham Festival has grown from a humble beginning to what it is today..... ;)

We've got the infrastructure already in place to grow year on year.

Hopefully these gigs will have brought in a decent amount for the club.
I must say tho', I honestly thought they would have covered the grass,
then again, extra expense I suppose, if it's going to be "refurbished" for the new season.

The pitch has been sprayed and killed on purpose, Rob starts the "refurbishment" on Tuesday

Rob has been working on the training pitch by the College of Knowledge in the last week and it certainly looks a better surface than Turners Field or the University. Rob refers to it as "our training ground" so it must be a permanent arrangement.

Anyone wanting to watch them train you can do so from that little snicket that runs between Thorpe Avenue in Torrisholme to Morecambe Road.

I think these shows have been partly organised by the EFL and have been appearing at several other stadiums around the country, perhaps something to be tried again in the future.

Sounds like these shows went well. Hopefully we can do something every summer and try and get a bigger draw. Could easily have 6000+ in
